Somebody today said it looks like Mortenson is topping out at 22 stories. What's up with that? Anybody have a visual or know what's going on? Is it an illusion because residential floors are shorter? Or maybe they're just pausing construction? Ideas?

The "somebody" who can see construction from their office said: "No tree, but they took down the core form and they are not raising the tower crane to keep going."

Probably just a pause and catching up on some other part of the construction. There is still a concrete pump on top.

The most likely explanation is either they are catching up as mnmike said or they are dealing with the concrete shortage that has been a problem over the last 12 plus months. I know that there were times when the new stadium was in a heavy pouring stage and most of the other projects were slowed down a bit. The building is going to be 30 stories - as schmitzm03 points out - it was sold as such and this kind of a change is completely unlikely. The other potential option is that as the Xcel building is framing the side closest to 4Marq it might delay adding to the crane for a little while.

The first time they raised the crane, construction seemed to stall for a couple weeks before hand. No idea why this is the case, but I'd guess that's what's happening again.

Don't panic yet...there is rebar sticking out of the columns on the top floor ready for the next floors columns to be poured around them.

They may just be resetting the platform to different specifications. While the lower floor have to deal with weight load stress, the upper floors will have more wind stress to deal with. They maybe also just checking specification to make sure of the alignments are still true.
