Wait, I thought there was universal agreement that these images of projects are "just renderings" and everybody understands that things are going to "change"...nothing to see here.
I thought there was universal agreement that changes to an approved building was not the same thing as changes to what was very clearly a conceptual image of a park that isn't part of the project and still needs to go through a public visioning process.

It looks to me like they did change it a little, since the white skeleton crosses over one floor short of where it crosses in the rendering (which shows glass material instead). The 2nd to last floor is where the material stops, not the very top floor, like in the rendering.

The interior perspective of the rooftop party room shows no trellis.

Yep, I looked at their website and you are probably right. Too bad about that, however, I guess it does allow for panoramic views and a more open deck in the summer for residents.

Yeah, that is lame...that was one of the best parts of the design, in my opinion...

So, is it to be assumed that the former is unacceptable to you and the latter is acceptable to you? Need to know so that I can align my opinions with universal agreement.

I was wondering when that top level was going to be built... this is really a shame to lose it.

That island and track light in the first picture look aesthetically pathetic. Its tough to tell just from one picture, but my initial reaction is: tacky.

Moved into the Eitel building a couple weeks ago, and the set up is similar to above. You get an island, which is nice, but there's hardly any space for anything else in the kitchen. I mean, coffee maker, toaster oven, and that's it, and even then you probably need to make a more complicated dinner on the island. Maybe no one cooks anymore? I don't cook much either, but I suppose I would trade two or three extra feet of counter for living room space, or whatever.

^^^Values about what is important in a living space change over time. There is definitely a trend in urban life to eat /socialize more outside of home. The kitchen is less of a focus in peoples' lives. Also, from a developers' standpoint, the kitchen ( and bathroom ) are likely the most expensive costs of the interior finishes of an apartment unit. They are built to be modest in size/quality to decrease costs and increase profit.

I moved a little over a month ago from an apartment that had approximately one square foot of counter space to one with four or five times that, but I've found that it still isn't enough. Perhaps it's never enough? I cook every night, though, so maybe I'll just never be satisfied.

I keep all of my countertop appliances in the cupboards except when I need them too. But that probably wouldn't work if I were a coffee drinker.
