Oh, I too thought you were talking about Sheraton Ritz at first...that other building on the actual 4Marq site I have never seen, that must be the one you are asking about. Was it part of the Powers building?

The building where 4Marq is going was the Tribune building. James Lileks had posted this picture over the summer on his star trib blog.

It was approved almost 2 months ago, and as far as I know, no work is being done and there has been no mention of any work being done. I would think if there wasn't an issue, this would be going up by now.

I think that its construction schedule is somewhat impacted by the two other major construction projects on this same block. Now that Nic on Fifth is nearing maturity, I would expect work to commence here soon.

That's not out of the ordinary, a lot of projects have a little delay between closing and construction. Mortenson has been focused on trying to get the new stadium under way first. They may even be waiting for some of their subs to get in line also. I don't think it will belong before we see action here, just be patient. It wouldn't even shock me if they waited until March or April to start digging depending on how the excavating is going at the stadium site.

I was under the impression the crew/cranes from LPM were being repurposed for this project once that one was done?

That would be a bummer if they were using the crew/cranes from LPM - this wouldn't be started for some time.

I think there has been some slow down in construction due to weather earlier this winter so all these projects need to play catch up. I'm also wondering when Xcel's new building will start on this block. According to the Opus website, its scheduled to be completed in August of 2016.

There was a post from ThePumpGuy,if I remember correctly, a couple months ago saying that his company was about to finish pouring LPM, and that their next project was 400 Marquette. So there's that, I guess. As far as the Xcel building goes, the Xcel internal website says Ramp Demolition in 3Q 2014, with building construction 4Q 2014-4Q 2015. Presumably Opus will start demolition soon after they finish the Nic.

Does anyone have any info on this one? Since the Xcel building is not starting until fall, are they waiting on this one until then too? I've tried taling with people in the know and nobody has an answer.

A lot of other building have been announced and even had their ground breaking ceremonies while 4Marq has waited to begin. That has got to change the financial potential for this building. I think I remember that they had secured financing - but maybe I am wrong.

You people have a short memory. Do you not remember how long it took to get shovels in the ground for Nic on 5th and LPM? It'll happen eventually!
