Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
It's 2015. If there's not a technology for a coating you can put onto a white precast to keep it clean, then I'll be upset.
Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
Grant, you are probably right about some finish or compound in the material that makes it wash easily. Also, given the fairly clean air and lack of heavy industry etc. here in Minneapolis I think it will wear well.
Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
There are masonry cleaners and sealers for almost every product out there. Even the brut buildings could be clean again. It's a matter of the building management doing it or not.

They're already platforming up to the 20th floor now. 2/3rds done structurally. I'll expect the whole thing to top out by April or May

13 feet taller than it's neighbor Nic - I wonder visibly how much one could tell of a difference.

It's so bizarre to me to see a GIANT vacant lot like the Ritz Block be surrounded by not only infill/development, but extremely high-density, high quality infill/development. You can almost feel the (kinetic) energy!
Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
I've lurked on this board long enough and have a unique enough view that I thought I'd post some iPhone pics of 4Marq. Today was a concrete-pouring day -- they are on a 4-workday schedule for pouring each floor. These arelong days because they pour the slab, then form the columns, then pour the columns. It is 5pm, and they are just staring to pour the columns, and still have half to form up. They are also close to maxing the crane and will have to add some segments very soon. Also, I'm not sure why they are taking apart the slip form for pouring the elevator shaft-- they still have a number of floors remaining. I'll try to get more aerial photos of projects from other sides of our floor (RBC Plaza) with a real camera and lens.

Awesome photos. Make sure you take wide shots of the whole neighborhoods on each side of the building if you can so you can compare if you are still working there in 5 or 10 years.
Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
Thanks for the pics Drag. I really like this project and can't wait to see the finished product. The mod look of it is so different from what we have seen lately, and I think it will add greatly to the area.
Off topic, but how exactly does a crane lift itself ? I've tried to find info online and am not able to find anything. I'm curious, and hope someone can explain. Sorry for going off topic.

That was a cool video! I have never seen how the crane is raised! I had no idea.

Thank you for the video.
I drove past this project today, and the more the façade goes up, the more I really like it.

Someone on reddit posted this from the 19th floor of 4marq:

This is a really cool view! I love that angle and the "Manhattan" effect.

Isn't that facade going all the way to the ground? I like it.
Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
Those bottom seven floors are parking podium, so I'm guessing they'll have a different façade. Unfortunately.

I love the look of Marquette Ave!
I hope that as this end of the avenue fills out that the ground floor of 111 Washington is renovated to be more friendly to Marquette. It's such a great building, and there has never been a better time to blow up the ground level (the last article of the sale of those building stated this has like 80% vacancy) and give it a proper presence along Marquette.
