how annoying would that be to the residents though?
I don't understand your question. How would these lights that are below them affect them any more than street lights and passing cars, let alone flashing emergency vehicles?

I love these things. The two guys (bankers?) plotting the takover of the city is awesome. Smiling away as they devise more and more ways to skirt regulation.

I thought You were talking about the white grid over the windows?

If they have some type of ambient glow illuminating the skirting in a similar manner to how Target Field lights up their similar parking ramp skirt, I think it would look decent at night.

I believe it's in reference to the metal skirting around the first few floors, not the grid of the entire building.

I noticed that my old model had issues. I made a new google earth model for 4marq. Here it is:

Here's a link to other projects around town:

(if sketchup didn't continue to re-do their website every few weeks I wouldn't have to re-post this stuff so much. sorry).

Looks like Veit will also be doing the parking ramp demo for this project as well.. Pretty soon it's going to be a half block hole! So excited for this block to be finished.

Y'know, we had been assuming all through this thread that this building would have a skyway connection to the Nic on 5th, but it's not going to. Seems really strange, since the 5th St. Towers/Nic on 5th skyway is sooo close to this building.

At the same time, it'll be interesting to see if this leases slower than the Nic or the Soo due to the lack.

I went back and looked through the plans. The second floor is part of the parking garage- there's nowhere for a skyway to connect at all, on any side. Very strange.

Strange indeed - I always figured this would have a connection similar in form to how Renaissance Square connects to 50 South Sixth or how 601 Marquette connects to the Farmers & Mechanics Westin.

This may just be an F-U from Opus to Mortenson. The big construction companies can be just as petty as teenagers sometimes.

I'd say it is more of a, "It just does not gel". Unless you plan on making the second floor a lobby like floor, there is no reason for other skyway walkers to go into or thru the building as there is no exit and the space would be considered dead skyway space as far as retail. If they were to move some of the amenities to that level and made it a private skyway then I could see it. But that is an expensive side door for private use only. Considering you have less than 100 feet to your skyway connection I think that most will survive the walk outside for that distance.

It's actually unclear about the skyway. Yes, the level 2-7 plan doesn't show a connection. But if you look carefully at the 1st floor plan there is a dotted area crossing the alley into Nic on Fifth labeled "location of future skyway above."

I would take that to mean that the skyway would take out some parking spaces and would go around the edge og the second floorat the front of the building. That is unless the decision on the Ritz block is closer to the center of the block and then they would take out those on the back side. Skyway would be basically a long hallway or like a few of the parking ramps you are walking outside but inside the confines of the ramp portion,.

I think the skyway issue might be dependent on what the actual owners want to do and since at least one of them is a New York firm - they don't always understand the importance of skyways. The building owners have to foot the bill and this is likely not on their radar now. The other thought is that there would be a skyway connection between the Xcel office building and then potentially access 4Marq on the north side of the block. Seems really problematic to run a skyway around the second level of the Nic on 5th parking ramp - they would lose too many parking spaces.

Not for Windows Phone 8, there's not.

Idk, I tried it a long time ago and didn't enjoy the experience. It may very well have improved since then.

Edit: Oh, wow, that was super easy. That'll teach me to give things a second chance.
