I think it was the Abdo brothers that developed Six Quebec. Swervo was involved in the Whitney condo conversion, which was the source of much of the union animosity. I believe Swervo was involved to some degree with the Sexton and 607 Washington imbroglios.

They've started replacing windows on one of the upper floors.

I don't care for the horizontal nature of the new windows. Does not match up with the verticality if the building.

Just saw the windows. Very, very confusing choice. They create a clashing alternation of horizontal and vertical lines when coupled with the spandrels. Perhaps more drastic alterations are still yet to come.

Was there ever a rendering?

No, and it doesn't look like the permits they've pulled allow for any alterations to the exterior, either...

I think If I were doing it I would have just left the tower part alone and concentrated on making the base look more attractive, especially the street level. The building is very dreary from the street - the dark arcade and the fact that you actually have to step down from the sidewalk to go through the front door.

Finally got to see what they're doing with this. Interesting window choice.

Head where the sun don't shine, choice. Was the architect even awake when they chose those horizontal window mulleins. The original areas below the windows run vertical

They just need to carry the new window arrangement throughout the building to its base. I hope that's their intention? Then it will look just fine.

I'm sure they will, but it breaks up the verticality of the way the building runs. IF they redo the original lower level to the original design then it will be a truly schizophrenic building. I'll call it the "What were they smoking" building!

It's not too late to bring in Sabri's architect to help out with this one.

This building has been bastardized beyond all recognition compared to its original form. Hard to believe the old bones are still there!

I'm actually a fan of the contradicting lines. It makes the windows actually look bigger than the original ones even though they are the same size.

Looks like they're taking down some of the fortress. Good riddance.

I've been wondering if that's part of an actual renovation, or just poking a hole for the skyway to Nic on 5th.

Hmmm. I thought the skyway was going through Gaviidae I. Rendering check!
