That's the one I remember...it was hard to find, I couldn't. Anyway, there it is, so we can put that to rest:)

Wasnt there a proposal with a 30 story condo tower with a 20 story next to it? Or was that the Power's site?

does anyone know whether this is stick-built or other? From what I can tell, the crew is keeping the lower half of the old Jaguar dealership intact and are building on it.

I think they only retained the parking ramp where the cars were stored. The dealership's front office/sales area had been demolished when Google aerials were taken in April. If you're seeing something other than the ramp, it must be new.

He's only referring to the ramp. Does anyone know if the top floors will be stick?

99% likely it will be stick.

Still not much to see here. But the first floor should be fully formed in another month or two. Also saw concrete columns atop the parking ramp. I'm still thinking much of the housing will be stick built. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Is the grocery story going to wrap around the parking lot or what?

The grocery is going on the south side of the parking deck. with the grocery parking under the store itself. Basically where the old showroom and car lot was.

this one's going up really fast. I think both Whole Foods and the apartments will open well before the stated completion date of summer 2013.

Also (caveat: I'm a layperson), it seems that there are concrete pillars being erected on top of the first two stories. So maybe this won't be stick-built.

dumb Pollock question of the day: what's a "layperson"? I always thought it meant like "average Joe".

Not necessarily "average Joe", but not far off -- it simply refers to someone who doesn't have professional knowledge/experience in an area.

I'm wary of joining you in predicting an early completion but it is moving along nicely. Glad to see that. Keeping my fingers crossed for non-stick built!

I understand that the developer wouldn't be reusing a substantial portion of the parking ramp if it didn't make sense financially, but I still want to give kudos for this achievement in sustainability. Amid all the concerns about whether 222 is sufficiently attractive, I don't believe anyone has yet commented how wonderful it is to rescue a viable structure. This is better than destroying and recycling, much better than a landfill.

Good point. It wasn't much and was financially motivated, but every little bit helps. It also doesn't hurt the speed of the project!

That's kinda what I meant by "Average Joe".....like as in, "with average knowledge" or saying something so that anyone could understand you.
