Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Oh my...that building has been such an eyesore for a long time...I think owned by the same fab landlord as Sneaky Pete's and the 90s?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
That's an interesting location, directly across the street from Pizza Luce.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Isn't that right across the street from Luce?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Is Pizza Luce across the road?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
My understanding is that this may, in fact, be in the proximity of Pizza Luce.

You guys lost me. Where exactly is this going to be? Is there anything nearby, say another well known restaurant?

No one mentioned the Saffron closing. Sat is the last day.

They had a nice run here. Looking forward to their next project.

Randle's representative wants it to be clear that it will be a sports restaurant, not a sports bar. That being said, they're asking to upgrade their liquor license to allow for live entertainment. DMNA guy wants them to put a condition in to not allow a dance floor, because there is apparently concern about Nicollet Mall becoming a nightclub district.
The rooftop patio will be expanding out over the Barrio space.

Doesnt Dakota have a dance floor and live entertainment?
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I believe so. I guess the thought is that one is an anomaly, but two is an epidemic?

After just shy of a year, I am pleasantly surprised to see that the "temporary" closure of Broadway Pizza in U.S. Bank Plaza really was just temporary!
It looks like they will be reopening as "Broadway Fast & Fresh". http://www.broadwaypizza.com/downtown-minneapolis/

Huh. I had 100% written them off. I'd seen some activity in there, but assumed they were just getting ready for a new tenant or something.

That's pretty weak IMO...DMNA guy wants them to put a condition in to not allow a dance floor, because there is apparently concern about Nicollet Mall becoming a nightclub district.
Does The Local still have a DJ and dancing late night (albeit lightly attended)?
I've always wished that the nightlife core of Minneapolis would shift to Nicollet Mall, opposed to its current location on Hennepin and the light rail.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Yes, it would be terrible to have nightlife on what's supposed to be our major retail street, thus protecting all our thriving retail from there being people about...there is apparently concern about Nicollet Mall becoming a nightclub district.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
And will it be "family"-friendly -- i.e., guaranteed that a hardcore fundamentalist in from outstate for a Vikings game won't see anything that Offends™ him even in the slightest? That guy over there stumbled... he might be... is he... BUZZED?!? And is that... two women holding hands?!? Also, think of the Noise! and the Traffic! We wouldn't want anything like that in a city!Yes, it would be terrible to have nightlife on what's supposed to be our major retail street, thus protecting all our thriving retail from there being people about...there is apparently concern about Nicollet Mall becoming a nightclub district.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Just saying, our current "nightclub district" is not good.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
"Not good" at 2am on Friday and Saturday nights as everyone is forced to leave at once.
