But it is sort of Minnesota in that it definitely has a certain quality about it. Perhaps understated,” she said.
Referring to the design quality as "understated" has me a bit worried...

I heard they were saving money by using old facades instead of new materials. One side will be Block E, another side will be the art moderne Strib facade, another will be the mid-century shell from 510 Marquette, and the fourth side will be the old Century Plaza.

what does she mean by some of the upgrades done to target field or xcel? so...she is downplaying expectations by saying things were left out because of the budget. oh whatever ill just wait for the renderings to nit pick.

she's probably referring to no retractable roof. we have to look at this pimple on the skyline for decades. please be "good".

is anyone here going to this design reveal?

Those quotes use so many generic adjectives that it's easy to mistake them from being anything but incredibly vague.

Kelm-Helgen also says the design will reflect the hard-fought negotiations over the stadium’s financing. She says Minnesotans shouldn’t expect the kind of multi-million dollar upgrades the Xcel Energy Center or Target Field got from their teams as the facilites were being built.
"Hard-fought" is Minnesota Nice for saying that the VIkings were being stubborn and stingy during negotiations. She's implying that the Twins and Wild paid out some extra money for upgrades at TF and Xcel. The VIkings, however, are pinching pennies, so don't get your hopes up.

Hopefully they have more than just renderings on cardboard. I expect a 3-D model and perhaps a interactive video or two.

Yes I agree. My prediction is it will be a "very good" design with a nice modern feel that will fit in well with the site. It's best feature will be its sense of transparency with the surrounding area (almost the exact opposite of the current Metrodome). It will probably age well and still look good in 15 years. I'm really not expecting something radical or avante garde.

Not that it's really valuable to speculate anymore, with the design coming out in 40 minute, but PA was just on KFAN and among other things:

• Expect a lot of glass
• It will definitely be a building you will notice from the outside, more so than the Metrodome
• He strongly hinted that it will be like Lucas Oil Stadium, but when pressed he seemed to indicate that specifically the "retractable component" will be similar to the giant window they apparently have in Indy.

I just checked Twitter in case somehow a design was leaked early. It wasn't, but apparently WCCO and KARE led with Vikings stadium stories rather than the marriage equality vote today. Not sure what KSTP and KMSP led with as their viewers don't use Twitter.

Hilarious, Nick. Totally being stereotypical, but I'm also assuming most of the folks there tonight are experiencing their first time in the Guthrie. :)

I am not sure if anybody posted a link to the live stream
I think I just found it here that should start at 7pm

http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/all- ... video.html

I really hope the link works! Otherwise I might miss part of it looking around for another live stream.

Crossing fingers that this will blow my socks off. I put on a pretty loose pair so it shouldn't be to hard for that to happen
