Walking by yesterday, the new concrete (presumably for the underground parking) is now at grade with First and there is stick going up facing the RR corridor. Decent sized crew working, too.

There sure are a lot of cheap, boring, uninspired buildings going into the North Loop these days. This one is making me want to change my post on the shipping container building down the street to something more positive. I'll keep telling myself that the increase in residents is worth it...

I'm all for using industrial materials for any building in the North Loop. Some of the buildings that have been built feel like they are more suburban in appearance. (Suburban isn't bad - it just isn't "urban industrial warehouse") I wish that developers would take more risks with their North Loop projects. There are a few who have built interesting buildings, but I think we are missing an opportunity for architectural experimentation.

I have to agree with that. The Bookstack tower is great with the metal and industrial look. Wish there were a few more like that in the area! I think the exterior of the Paxon fit with it's neighbors. The industrial would fit in better with in the area south of Washington and the viaduct. This area truly is an old industrial area that it has the buildings to match it. I look forward to Fasthorse as that will be an interesting building. Will play off well with Brumsfield and Gurley. The old section will play off of Gurley and the new off of Brumsfield.
