According to a City permit, the old Witt Market building at 705 Hennepin is currently undergoing "PAINT STRIPPING, TUCK POINTING; REPLACE MANSORY BRICKS ON EXTERIOR WALLS OF EXISTING VACANT COMMERCIAL BUILDING IN PREPARATION FOR FUTURE RENOVATION WORKTO BE DONE." I don't know if someone somewhere has something specific in mind, but it's nice to see this nice old building at last getting a little TLC.

Anyone know what is going in on Glenwood? Between IMS and Hirschfields?

Its fenced off, and looks to be more than just a parking lot redo

Long time lurker here. I live at IMS and got a construction update yesterday.

From the email:

"The parking lot south of the building along Glenwood will be closed for renovation. The project is quite extensive; it includes not only resurfacing but adding landscape and a rain garden for proper drainage. The lot will be closed until completion."

They're also redoing a lot inside IMS commercial, and apparently getting rid of the circle drive up and porte cochere.

A spec office building about to be proposed downtown. It looks nice. Don't expect much height, but its nice looking for sure. Should be shared soon.

Aw, then it'll probably be presented to the North Loop neighborhood, not the DMNA. Oh well.

Great to see! It'll be nice to see some new retail down in this area.

Is that a cutaway view, or are they planning to rip off the entire facade and replace it with glass? I think it looks pretty cool, but it's a pretty new building to be making that major of a structural change.

I don't think that's a cutaway view and they're probably planning a glass wall.

The existing facade, while nice, really doesn't have enough windows in it for an office user. So there would have to be pretty significant changes to the facade anyway.

Good to see they'll also be fixing the bad sidewalk condition that currently exists here. Unfortunately, it means there will be one less place to be an Easy Rider badass in downtown.

Ooh, I hadn't even noticed that the dropoff lane and crappy tucked under sidewalk would be going away. Fantastic!
