If you mean "someone that stands behind the cheese counter", sure, but last time I was in there they didn't have or know what Cotija was. That's like not knowing Cheddar. Every Mexican place in the city puts it on their refried beans.
Which is funny, because I've seen Cacique cotija in their stores, at least. But it's not a "fancy" cheese, so yeah, I'm not surprised that they didn't know about it.

There’s a cheesemonger no less. Love that Lund’s.

I second this gripe. There is typically no one behind the counter and if you are lucky enough to be served by someone they will likely know nothing about cheese.

That said, having lived in the 35W / Washington Ave area, I don't think a grocery store would work here now with Trader Joe's in the area and Fresh Thyme only a LRT ride away. What could work is a high quality convenience store like Gold Medal Market (minus the poor location / visibility that doomed them).

Buchanan’s father and uncle started their adult bookstore business in the 1980s, with Broadway Book & Video on Hennepin Avenue. He’s been working at the stores since he was 12, he said. He’s 46 now.

I know we had a lot of approvals and proposals last Fall. At the same time it has been a long time since we've seen a proposal for a notable building. The forum is a bit more exciting when we have something juicy like that to analyze.

I know, right? I’m waiting to see some ground being broken on stuff we saw going through the process in the past few month.

Anyone know what is going on at HERC? There is a crane up today and it appears they're doing some sort of upgrade.

What is the green you saw at the HERC? I wonder if it’s possible that the crane could be there gearing up for Southwest construction? I’m thinking in particular about the construction of the linking point near the interchange.

The rebranded & renovated Hotel Minneapolis is re-opening today as the Emery Hotel: https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-li ... inneapolis

Along with it, the new Spyhouse Coffee and Giulia restaurant inside the building have also opened.

The lobby is cool! I swung in there last week trying to find the Spyhouse that was very prominently advertised on the front, which wasn't open yet, and I was impressed by the space.

Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Postby Anondson » April 19th, 2019, 10:44 pm

IMO post them in any thread that is relevant to the subjects in the photo.

However there is a dedicated Photography forum if you have any that don’t seem to fit. You could make a thread there for your miscellaneous photos.

That is a spectacular vista though. It will vanish when the other half of the block gets developed.

What is the plan for those power lines? Cant believe we still have some above ground that close to downtown.

A number of North Loop streets, including Third, the one in the photo, are being reconstructed this year. I don't know if this will involve burying the power lines.

I was driving through here today and thought to myself, "Thank goodness their reconstructing these soon."

What are the chances they tear up all of those nice trees and replace them?

It's a little bittersweet how few good vistas will remain of the City Hall clocktower (once the city's tallest building) in a few years. There used to be a great one along Park Ave that was blocked by the Portland Tower. When it was built there were great view corridors for the tower in multiple directions (along 4th/Riverside, Park, etc.) that have all vanished with more construction downtown.

Although, I wonder if this one existed before the Metropolitan Building was demolished? I think the Met would have been just to the left of the clocktower from this view, but I'm not certain.
