Please link to any source indicating that Westminster is considering building housing on that site.

Someone who was told by Westminster leadership repeated to me that they are not considering housing for this site. They still claim that they will develop some affordable housing, but it will be elsewhere downtown.

Is that the definition of hearsay?

I was going to take Westminster off the map but UrbanMSP won't let me edit my post for some reason.

In the absence of evidence that Westminster is even thinking about housing here, our choices are speculation or hearsay. There are dozens of places I think would be great for apartments, but I wouldn't ask Avian to put them on his or her map.

I tried updating the estimated projects spreadsheet again (but it's a serious pain in the ass to work in and I probably won't be using it very much longer if it keeps acting so slow)....feel free to take a look at the numbers behind the projects.

Before I do, you'll want to change the 169 in the Mill District and the 91 near St. Anthony Main to green--those projects are both underway.

I don't know, we could just start making development projects up and see if they get reported on ;)

I wonder how much actual reporting The Business Journal does. A lot of their non-syndicated stories start "Finance and Commerce reports..." It seems like all their local reporting is done by one of only two guys, and more often than not they just rehash Strib/MPR/F&C stories with less details, no additional info, bigger type, and more obnoxious advertising. I would think F&C would get annoyed with the Biz Journal summarizing their excellent beyond-the-paywall reporting for unrestricted distribution.

On the other hand, urbanmsp is great at breaking news with all the interested eyes on the street (like spotting a soil testing truck - or parking lot closed sign - at the site of a long delayed project), but we generally can't sort rumor and innuendo from fact until one of the professional reporters (yes, sometimes the Biz Journal) straightens us out. Not everyone can be an aggregator or there wouldn't be anything to aggregate.

Actual reporting: http://finance-commerce.com/2012/11/200 ... -november/

We'll see if your theory is upheld when the Biz Journal reports it on Monday ;)

DOWNTOWN BOOMTOWN

Surprisingly no comments trashing the city. Just one person complaining about subsidies and transit, otherwise mostly positive reception to this article praising the big bad scary city.

Are we reading the same article? It looks like it's turned into an argument with some libertarian that's against government.
