This is the 'general topics' thread... Why all the grief on the forums lately. Very off putting. If you want to turn people away from this site, this is the way to do it.

First of all, it was a joke, hence the winking face. second I was linking the previous conversion and information about the project. third I know the user well enough to tease. It was literally a joke about how strict some people are about the organization of the threads.

Oh OK, makes sense then. Glad to see others recognize this too!

Road closures during the Super Bowl month. There is a lot of confusing stuff on this map. In the upper right, it says road closures run from Jan 2nd thru Feb 11th, but I can't find which roads would be closed that early. They also mislabel the Green and Blue Lines.

I'm wondering if it's even worth returning buses to Nicollet on Dec. 2, if they're going to be detoured again less than 2 months later.

Are the roads on the dotted line closed or restricted? I get the impression that they're the where the concrete barriers would be.

But of course, it wasn't an option to permanently close Portland Avenue through the Commons, because reasons.

The dotted lines are neither, as far as I understand, they are just outlining the region in which roads would be closed. And they can't be barriers, because some of the roads inside that region are still open, just with reduced lanes.

I was trying to figure out where the 2.5 miles of concrete barriers with barbwire are going that the StarTribune mentioned.

Right? Like if we can close some of these for a month, we really should be talking about whether we can close them to cars permanently.

“I always wanted to live in a New York penthouse like Frank Sinatra in ‘Come Blow Your Horn.’"

Had always wondered about this place, and man it's ugly inside. They managed to make a sweet urban penthouse look like a McMansion version of an Italian villa.

And a mini-fridge. It's a coffee bar (or so says the caption). I can't think of any more high-end way to get my coffee than to microwave it in my bathroom.

This seems like an April Fools joke.

"Super Bowl zipline will have riders gliding 100 feet over Mississippi River "
https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/ ... g-100.html

"Whistler, Canada-based Ziptrek Ecotours will build a tower near Nicollet Island Inn and launch people 750 feet across the river at speeds of 20 to 30 miles per hour. Riders will land on West River Parkway."

I also watched the video from Indianapolis and the MSP zipline over the river will be way cooler.
Do we have a Super Bowl thread?

Meh. I’d rather it run from the Mill Ruins to Water Power Park, right over the falls. It’d be a nearly useful way to get walk from the events tents on The Commons, down to the ruins, take the zip line across the river over to Main Street.

Their placement of the line avoids the high voltage power lines that run through the river center.

I would LOVE a zip line from Main Street to Mill Ruins (year round!), but the power lines make that impossible. :(

You wouldn’t think it possible to have the live zip under the power lines? But there could be landing zones in front of the power line towers.

How cold will this zip line be? Think they'll provide the riders with ski goggles and a face mask?
