I can't wait for the Mill District to become MiDi. Three syllables is too much for millennials.

Shows what happens when non profits have too much time and money in their hands. This is really silly. Kind of like justifying their existence with this silly naming thing. Thought we had an art district, theater district, and entertainment district. Now we want to bundle it all under WeDo. How much are these people getting paid for this nonsense.

Who wants the name WeDo? WE DO!
When do we want it? NOW!

What a weird name. When I was a kid, the area I lived in around 33rd and Chicago was called Miracle Mile (for all the drug use) and St. Louis Park hated that name because of the strip mall of the same name.

Seems like there are quite a few businesses that support the idea. A lot of the theaters, some restaurants, etc.

I also seem to remember, about 15 years ago, Nordeast/E. Hennepin trying a "NeHe" moniker. It just didn't fly. It's always better when it ends with a 'Ho. (WeHo, SoHo)

My definition of WeDO is the trash burner, Mary's Place, the farmer's market. That is west of downtown!

Super curious how they determined those boundaries. West of Nicollet makes sense, I guess, but why that little protrusion of mostly office buildings north of 5th?

Who keeps Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps?

WeDo! WeDo.

WeDo is giving out free coffee in the skyway in LaSalle Plaza right now. They are about 20 feet from the Dun Bros. Just two guys wearing WeDo tshirts that also had "live, work, play" etc listed. Doesn't every neighborhood say you can do it all?

Plus, that area is already called Gateway. And the Loring part is, well, Loring. Maybe the middle part as WeDo could create some mindshare, but that whole swath won't.

We have distinct districts already when nails down each of the areas. The art district is pretty much the area surrounding Loring Park, with the Walker, Sculpture Garden, Dunwoody, Harmon Place. The Theater Districts is between 9th st and 5th street on Hennepin. Gateway districts is the area of Hennepin/Nicollet north of 4th street. The entertainment district is from 10th street on the south to past Washington Ave to the north taking in Hennepin,1st and 2nd avenues. This only confuses the area that is over a mile long and meanders all over the place. I know I'll not be using it for frame of references.

So, looking at the map... they must have really done some mental gymnastics to come up with a catchy name for this that doesn't include a mention of Hennepin Avenue. Because that's the thing that's obviously organizing the whole area.

Also, Harmon is a historic district.

I'll bet $20 that the WeDo website suffers the same fate as mspmoretolife.com (remember that ad campaign leading up to the 2008 RNC?) within 5 years.
