Copham Apartments - (607 Washington Avenue North)

Postby Konante » July 6th, 2012, 8:41 am

They've taken down some of the advertising signage on the first floor, leading me to believe construction of the lobby/1st floor area is underway.

Is this the one with The Smack Shack going in? Isn't it almost done already?

Any renderings or other project/site info? I don't recognize the name...

Here's the website: http://www.thecopham.com/

It's the retrofitted warehouse next to the smack shack.

Okay, yeah, those are the same project. There is a warehouse across the street and to the north a bit being converted to apartments that I hadn't heard of though.

i looked at the floor plan... it looks like there is going to be a shortage of natural light in some of those units

I toured a few of the units, looking to move in. They said they should be complete September 1st, and you're right, there was a serious lack of natural light in some of the units.

The whole first floor is being dedicated to the lobby and their workout room is facing the street on Washington. It's a shame, in my opinion. That could have been cool retail space. I think the Smack Shack is occupying the short one story structure to the side.

Also, opening up the first floor of the building makes SUCH a big improvement: http://goo.gl/maps/y803

Has anyone ever thought about planting some trees in the sidewalks in the North Loop? I guess eventually Washington is supposed to be our "Parisian" boulevard but in the meantime it would make that whole area seem a lot more...human?

Actully they have planted a number of trees in North Loop thanks to the persistent efforts of the neighborhood Assoc. the fist time they went to the City for permission the Heritage Preservation Commission turned them down due to "trees are not historically accurate" in the area. neither are $1M loft style condos!! There are plans to keep adding trees but the budget is always a concern.

I noticed the gym equipment is installed/being installed on the first floor on my walk this morning. No signs up about dates of occupancy but things are moving along.

This building really does a great job if opening up the street to the building. I see Greco management center is on the first floor of this building. I really like the light cream brick that accents the entry point of the building.
