You can see the purple scaffold just above the tree, the ramp base can be seen below that, just to the right of Eitel.

^^^Thanks Sean for the pics. The purple scaffolding is on the the elevator shaft for the apartments. I'm guessing they may use a steel frame for the tower which should start fairly soon.

I would be pretty surprised...usually residential towers are concrete all the way up.

You are right about that. I was thinking about the unusual shape which makes me think more of a steel frame.

I get the feeling Magellan's name will be said in the near future here. Even before this project. Possibly for a large condo tower.

I don't think they own any other property in downtown Minneapolis (as far as I know). However, that doesn't mean they will never buy some land and develop it in the future. And they definitely have the expertise to do another large tower if the opportunity arises! :)

This one just poked above the trees and buildings as you're going east on 394 now!

I noticed that too when I was going over 394 on the Bryn Mawr bike bridge today! The tower is going to have a very prominent presence in the eastern view of the skyline.

So agree. This location is perfect for this tower. I do wish however, it was another 3-4 stories taller, to really set itself apart from the other high rise apts in this area, and have a little more dominating presence there.

Mod Note: We're aware that you want the building to be taller; you want all buildings to be taller. Don't need to post this in every thread. Thanks, Nick.

Go back to page 11 on this thread to see Avian's photo of LPM as it will ( approximately) look like from Loring Park. It's clearly the "king of the hill" in this part of town! :)

Does anyone know or have a way of finding out what this will look like from various parts of 94 as well? I love the Grant Park building's presence on the freeway and I bet this one will catch a lot of eyes!

it won't be very visible from 94... whether your heading southbound into town or westbound into town. It will rise above the other loring park towers slightly, but because of forced perspective it will be tiny and mostly hidden.
here it is heading into town... southbound on 94

That seems awfully tall...isn't it only less than 50 feet taller than One Ten Grant?

Yeah.... I've already gone over that with someone else a few pages back. :D It all comes down to forced perspective. It is true in height.

It will look huge from loring park... because the skyline will be in the distance... and smaller in relation to the size of the tower.

It will look big from 394... because it is closer to you than the rest of the skyline... but not at the same ratio as from loring park.

It will look tiny from the east... because the rest of the skyline is closer and will look bigger. LPM will be in the distance and look smaller.

In the shot, above (bold arrow), coming into town southbound on 94, you can see LPM looks much closer in height to the other towers in the neighborhood... because they are all relatively at the same distance to the viewer.

Here's a shot where 110 grant and LPM are the same distance from the viewer...

it looks "more accurate." Though, all are accurate.

forced perspective. :D

^^^ Thanks. Good job! :) This photo is quite accurate. Yes, LPM will be taller than 110 Grant by a clear margin. LPM will be 71 feet taller that 110 Grant ( 374 feet tall versus 110 Grant at 303 feet). A comparable building height to LPM ( already built) is the Marriot City Center Hotel at 381 feet.

I've put this out there before... but you can download this model I've made and view it in google earth.

Here it is again: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... fee25a7f45

I thought it was 376 feet? Either way... 2 feet.... who cares.

The core is now visible from 94 across Loring Park. If it wasn't already clear, this thing is going to have a very bold impact on the area around it.

Here are a couple images from last night - it's definitely becoming more visible - and the footprint of the base from this distance makes this thing look huge.
