Well what if they work at the airport? Same basic principle. Or if they live on the bottineau extension and work in St. Paul. There will be transference. Maybe not anything like the NYC subway, but the same basic principle will apply.

That seemed like a harsh response on my part after rereading your post. We're on the same page.

Well, part of my point was that if, for example, they were going from Eden Prairie to MSP, that would be quite a lot of backtracking to go through downtown and transfer. Hopefully there will be a bus that runs from Eden Prairie to the Mall of America (perhaps Rapid Bus?), and they could then transfer to the Blue Line to the Airport. Of course there will be transferring between the Blue and Green Lines, but that won't be the best option between every possible combination of stations.

Haha, yes, I think we are :)

I play on sketchup too much. I made a model of Nic on 5th and made it public for download. So... if you want to see how this project visually impacts the area... feel free to click the link and download the KMZ file (then, of course, double click on it to open in google earth).

I've never seen floor plans... so I can't be sure of exact dimensions (other than height... that is correct @ 288'). However, I think I got a pretty good idea of everything, based on pictures out there.

Also, I've never seen a picture of the north face of the tower... so I just gave it my best guess... which is a copy of the south face.

There's a good amount done on the Nicollet side of the block- it looks like they're starting on the second story of concrete.

In related news, went through the Fifth Street Towers the other day (for now a very weird dead-end space) and they're doing demo inside to prep for reopening the skyway over Marquette. The access is currently blocked by some kind of leasable/ storage space that was constructed in the former hallway.

That conference space has been there for years. I think it went in about a year after the Power BUilding went down. THey were looking for some extra bucks during one of the downturns.

They have conferences in that skyway? I suppose I never really looked up to see if anyone was in there.

I always thought it was filled with garbage, at least that's what it looked like.

The conference room has been built on part of the floor that would be walkway to the skyway. IT is in between the skyway and the elevator shafts. Once the skyway this temporary addition will be removed.

Apparently police have closed Nicollet Mall in front of this building, between 4th and 5th. Related to construction?

Are there good reasons why this thing is going so much faster (by my estimation) than the LPM tower? Didn't this one start way, way later? Glad to see it's moving along nicely.

Maybe it's because of her new sister about to be born next store.
