Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
Odd KSTP story/clip about Dock Street (and potential Hines office tower) blocking Target Field views in the North Loop.
Kinda surprising that they mentioned the potential increase in transit and bike trail usage without finding some right-wing conspiracy angle to taint the story (it is KSTP after all. If you're lost, Google 'Stanley Hubbard politics')
There are some nice shots of the construction and a short blurb at the end about the apartment construction boom in Minneapolis, name-dropping a few of our favorite projects.

In other news today: the sun was out, and no one seemed to mind. They also missed the mark on the Mill and Main project placing it much to far north on the map, and completely ignored the largest apartment building under construction right now. (1368 LaSalle)The city of Minneapolis says there is no height limitation in the area and says no one has complained.
What I really wish they had told me is how my hard earned taxpayer dollars are in some way being wasted on this.

Can't really complain though. ANY evening news story about Minneapolis or St. Paul that isn't about crime (or wasteful spending) is a HUGE plus in my book, given how negatively I perceive how negatively suburbanites perceive the big scary cities.

OR how their suburbs would somehow magically exist without them! Can't really complain though. Gahhh... right in the way of future expansion of the train station.
Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
Just to be clear, the transit planners looked at this and adjusted the plans to accommodate future expansion of the train station. Now, it may not accommodate future fantasy expansion of the train station, but that's another thing entirely.Gahhh... right in the way of future expansion of the train station.

This has been taking a while to get out of the ground.

thought for awhile there was some talk of retail on the street level of the Washington face of this building. Or it just going to be apartments? Seems like alot of these developments initially pitch retail where there should be to get the neighborhood and city planners excited and then it kind of disappears.

I can't actually think of any projects that were supposed to have retail and then didn't. Which ones are you talking about?
Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
this one should have retail on washington AND in the back of it.
Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
This has a full size crane now.
Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
This looks SO far off of Washington, now that it is out of the ground, and really strange with the bridge railing still up...

And the view from the south as of today:
Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)
I didn't ride the Cedar Lake trail southbound from the Stone Arch bridge until yesterday and wow! Seems to have popped way up out of nowhere.
