So slow compared to the Portland tower. Opening 2016? I'm not so sure.

I'm not sure that it's that much slower... it's parking is all under ground so it would be at about the same phase if you pulled those levels out of the ground, plus it's going to be 5 stories shorter than the Portland tower. Is it going to open this year? I dunno, but it's not that far behind.

This appears to be topped out, or nearly so.

Sorry to resurrect a thread that's been dormant for 3 years, but what's the deal with the glimmering purple lights on/inside this building? I always notice them but forget to pose the question here. There are purple lights either being shined at the building exterior, or coming from within the vacant units. If it's the latter, then there must be a ton of vacant units, as it spreads across multiple units and floors.

So what's the deal? Surely I am not the only person to have noticed this.

And I guess since we're on the topic, if a project like this was not leasing up to expectations, or was having to give significant rent concessions, you'd think a concrete building in this location would be an extremely ideal condo conversion. Especially since it was built to "condo quality" as developers like to say. What is stopping this or similar buildings from going condo? I mean besides the obvious answer of MN's condo law. By keeping it apartments for 10-years, are they able to avoid the construction defect lawsuits? Obviously a super low vacancy rate would be the #1 incentive to remain as rentals, but that won't last forever. I just have to imagine this will be one of the first buildings from the current boom (2012-present) to get converted

On the side facing the river, or the side facing Washington? If the latter, could it be a reflection from the stadium lighting?

Facing Washington. I usually see it from 35W. I've considered whether it could be a reflection from something else, but it seems specific to this building (I've not noticed purple light hitting anything else in the area). If it's from the Vikings stadium, holy crap that is some bad light spill...

It comes up a lot at DMNA meetings, since approximately 3/4ths of the board lives along 2nd St. I'm blanking on if it's the Encore specifically, but I've definitely seen some purple reflections from the stadium on the Mill District buildings - I'll have to look more closely next time I'm in a position to do so.

Weird. The purple lighting on the stadium seems fairly static. But whenever I notice this building, the light appears to be shimmering, if not actually moving around. For like 3 years now I literally thought there were purple lights inside vacant units in this building “for marketing”. Sorry everyone!

I assume you are moving- either in a vehicle, bike or even walking to give you the shimmering effect. Also, I concur with others that the effect occurs on all buildings north of the stadium. I understand why many people would find the light very invasive, but I like it.

I've definitely seen the Shamrock/Stanton buildings bathed in purple light and was trying to figure it out until...I realized it was just the stadium.

It just throws off so much light.
