TCF moving remaining downtown employees to Plymouth. Only downtown presence will be a branch. Appeal as a potential employer just went down a notch, not that I'd ever want to work for Bill Cooper anyways. Can a Chicago bank buy them out already?

Hoping the Strib uses this as an opportunity to liven up the Skyway and street levels of the Park Bldg... there's not much going on for street life on this side of the Capella complex or the Ameriprise building. It would be a nice bookend for the Gov Center / Accenture Tower parks... bridging government and commerce - the MEDIA!

Prime real estate. This should be torn down. That building destroyed the Foshay tower. It is way to close.

Haha. I've been thinking about closing my TCF account and after reading today's news, I will be closing mine tomorrow.

They saw this coming, so let's see what evolves on the development of this property now (how fast and on what scale I guess are the pertinent questions going on behind closed doors.)

I guess I didn't realize that by TCF leaving that it opens the door for the much talked about TCF redevelopment site, which many here have prognosticated as being the location for the city's next supertall. However, I wasn't previously aware that the potential redevelopment would be pending on this move (or at least the one bldg vacating).

So does this mean that only now developers can start looking into redevelopment here, or is there reason to believe that something is already in the works and details are likely going to be revealed before the year's up?

Whatever it is, it's going to have to compliment the Foshay and somehow restore some if its observation deck views. If they could have used the TCF tower space as well, I could envision a semicircle surrounding Foshay that highlights the building and then rises up over it in a way that aspires and reaches for the sky.

Maybe it is time to create a new thread called TCF Bank Building site or is there an old one we can bring back to life?

The way I read the BizJournals article, the tall, ugly building will remain. It's the short building on the corner of Marquette that will be up for redevelopment.

TCF Tower, the multi-tenant building at 121 S. Eighth St. is probably going to stay as it is.

But what difference does it make....? The demand for office space just decreased with TCF's move....other than wells fargo, who else is expanding downtown....this proposal is at least 5 years away.
