The Bickford is great. Wish some of the higher profile projects in the area looked so good!

Front face looks intriguing, however the right side seems dull IMO. Great to see another office project proposed, no matter what size!

I like it a lot. Would this be on that corner of 4th st and 5th ave? Wonder which side of that picture would face which street

Hmmm... Looks tall. I wonder if there will be a fight with the condo association over the view easements. I'm not sure exactly what the height limit is, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is over it.

I don't think there will be an issue over height. I believe the Stacks retained air rights above a certain elevation when they sold it off, so everybody should already know exactly what is and is not acceptable.

Sure would be nice if those stupid viaducts got out of the way.

Nice to see something with a little different approach to design go up.

Any guess as to what the green stripey material is?

I had a chance to talk to Scott and he seems like a pretty good guy. He also has a scale model of the building I saw. The facade that looks green in the rendering appeared to be 3 different shades of grey vertical panels for an interesting striped look. Not sure the material. The wood used is actually ash that was reclaimed from trees hit by ash borer and specially treated to make them incredibly resistant to weather. I think that this project stands in stark contrast to some of the other local projects because his development certainly does not appear to be structured as a venture strictly for financial gain, what with the cost of leed platinum certification and some of the materials they are employing. It will also have an attached cafe/coffee shop with outdoor seating and firepits, and should be a welcome addition to the neighborhood as long as there is 8M in the bank when that 4M pricetag starts to overrun! Really like that someone is willing to put pocket cash into something with architectural quality in the hood though.

That's a great updated rendering! Really shows off the materials and window walls!
This definitely needed it's own thread finally :)

And it's going to have a coffee shop to boot!

It'll be nice to have a second coffeeshop in the neighborhood but kind of funny that this will be just a block away from Corner Coffee. Wish they could space them out a bit - I end up going to Bewiched for coffee a lot (they have better espresso than Corner Coffee anyway, and it's super cheap, although I sort of feel like I'm putting them out when that's all I order). The basement space in ElseWarehouse that instead went to the bar for Borough would have been perfect. Well, that's enough about how I feel about the availability of coffee in the North Loop. Thanks for listening everybody.
