So, we did talk about this at length in the North Loop thread. It might be worth moving some of that information over here.

Something contraversial is at least a welcome and interesting diversion from the suburban vanilla stick construction we've been witness to during the last 4 years growth in the NL. I personally look forward to the bitching, because at least this will get noticed.

I'm not a fan of it personally (it looks like something that should be surrounded by more green space and/or overlooking a body of water rather than an elevated highway). I do kinda like this project in the sense that Minneapolis gets a more diverse array of architectural styles.

Different is good, I'll take it, though I'd feel differently if it were omnipresent across downtown. One is fine.

I drove by this lot yesterday and thought I saw a "land for sale" sign there. So I'm curious:

1. Am I thinking of the wrong site? Thought this was at the corner of 4th St N and 5th St N.
2. Is this project done for?
3. Who should I call for Chinese food delivery to the North Loop this evening? Prefer a non bite squad place.

I just had an aha moment with this address, too. 525 3rd St N is actually the Bookmen Lofts address; they appear to own the land that will have Steelcase built on it. The proposed address for Steelcase is actually 506 4th St N.

506 4th St N looks to be the corner where I saw the "land for sale" sign. That's the spot where the building appears in renderings as well.

They a lot of times still have the signs up until that are ready for construction. They may not have yet purchased the land but only have expressed interest.

I suppose we could change the address in the title of the thread. It is technically correct, as the property is indeed owned by the Bookmen Lofts, and 525 3rd is the address that has appeared in all documentation to this point.

We'll go with 506 4th St N from now on.
