According to a friend who received communication from management at Dock Street Flats, they're having the surveyor there today to plot the placement of a temporary construction fence.
I'm glad to hear that. Want to see this project get underway. We'll have another big hole filled soon then.

I'm excited about this project as well! It reinforces the Minneapolis tradition and reputation of being forward thinking in architecture. :)

I biked by there the other day and based on where they were driving the pilings, just about as close as the condo building that's next door.

Here's a view from the walkway on the 3rd St bridge. Dock Street is in the background at the top of the photo. You can see the proximity of the trail to the piles. I'm curious about the square foundation-thing they've uncovered.

As I recall, the site plans showed that the building had a ground level arcade paralleling the Cedar Lake trail that would allow for additional pedestrian circulation along that face.

Biking by along the overpass last night and it looks like the excavation may have caused a 50 foot long or so fissure in the adjoining bike trail. Already cordoned off and filled in with asphalt by the time I saw it (bikers can still get by).

I saw that on Twitter today. There was a replay that stated public works is already working to fix it.

And close to the active rail line too to be a serious worry.

I'm pretty sure we could make this go viral claiming there was an earthquake in Minneapolis.

Via Scott Shaffer: Hey @MetroTransitMN if you like Northstar, you might want to send some engineers to check out this construction area.

I was surprised that the T3 is set back from 3rd Ave. I spaced off that there is the road to get down to the lower parking and the stadium. Has there been any diagrams of the interior of this building shown yet?

I bike through there every day and it's getting progressively worse. The fissue is deeper and the elevation between sides is now noticibly different. It feels like the T3 side is pulling away and sinking. The most notavble difference has been in the last two days.

May as well wait until the project is above ground before fixing it though, right? Pain in the ass as it may be, it's probably not advisable for them to repair it now. I'm guessing it stays like this until next spring.

As long as the slouching doesn't affect the rail running through, best to wait until the work is completed.
