Fantastic! We have our own Park and Recs TV show sequel.

The land of 10,000 broken promises and disappointments!I am so sick of this city and the developers in this town who present these big, grandiose plans that win the public's excitement and approval, to only have them fail to deliver. Sick, sick, sick.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
May we just refer to the park architect as the "parkitect"? I think that has a nice ring to it.
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
Not sure which thread we were having this conversation in, but...
New potential names for Downtown East are released.
New potential names for Downtown East are released.
Barf.Based upon feedback so far, East Town, East Loop, East Central Park, East Central Square and East Village have emerged as the most popular names so far...
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
Somebody needs to beat it into their skulls that for 99% of Minnesotans there is no downtown east or west or WeDo or East villiage. It's just Downtown Minneapolis. Why is that so hard?

E Do!
I can't believe we actually gave public funding to this group to come up with these names.

I'm gonna rename my block to PhiHo.
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
All of these "XYZ Heights" names would make a lot more sense if there were even a single hill.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I know the 'Missy Elliot' thing was a joke earlier, but in light of these terrible ideas, can we start a write-in campaign?
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I guess I don't understand what's wrong with just Downtown East?
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I think Downtown East is a pretty meaningless and useless term. I'd recommend that we have the Mill District and Elliott Park, and they're divided by the Commons and the stadium, which is its own little district to itself.
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I'm with you on that. South of 5th is Elliot Park. North of 4th is Mills district. The center dividing strip is the Stadium/Park District.. That makes life easy..I think Downtown East is a pretty meaningless and useless term. I'd recommend that we have the Mill District and Elliott Park, and they're divided by the Commons and the stadium, which is its own little district to itself.
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
True. In my mind, I'm calling that little middle district The Shipyard®, because of the stadium shape and the park. "Excuse me, sir. How do I get from the Mill District to Elliot Park?" "Well, you go south through The Shipyard and then you'll enter Elliot Park." Thank you!"I think Downtown East is a pretty meaningless and useless term. I'd recommend that we have the Mill District and Elliott Park, and they're divided by the Commons and the stadium, which is its own little district to itself.
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I just really don't see a need to rename "Downtown East", unless like the previous suggestions...we just combine it into Mill and Elliot park. But if it must be it's own, I see nothing wrong with the name.
Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I like East Town, or East Village. Though I think E Town sounds better.

I kind of like East Loop or East Village... but ONLY if they need to rename Downtown East.
