Really glad that the Comfort Suites is getting a renovation. I live across from that Centre Village building and also park my car there and think it is the ugliest tower in the city. I know that the exterior of the building really can't be helped but I very much hope that the main lobby is included in the hotel's renovation!

20 mil was about the same that Hyatt Spent on their Reno too right? And little to nothing changed on the exterior, but the inside is killer.

Crazy to think that Centre Village hotel was an Embassy Suites just a few years ago. I wonder how they kept that franchise going in such a horrible building.

Well, they didn't. The owner refused to put money into it...so after a lengthy appeal process to Hilton quality assurance, and holding on as long as possible, they lost their flag. It took a couple years.

PS, on an unrelated note...the go date for the Ivy to become The Conrad is supposedly November 15 now.

Is this going to be a legit 5 star hotel?

Doubtful. Having worked at the Grand Hotel for 5 years, getting/keeping a 4 star rating is extremely hard. To my knowledge, the Ivy is currently the only 4 star rated hotel in Minneapolis. There are a few 4 diamond rated hotels, but it's a much easier rating system.

Star ratings are give out by Mobil/Forbes
Diamond ratings are given out by AAA

Interesting. The Conrad NYC bills itself as 5 star but is not ranked by Forbes at all. No hotels here have ever even considered themselves 5 star to my knowledge. I wonder if the Conrad will.

Not exactly DT but close enough since it bills it's self as the Metrodome Holiday... Is going under a major renovation by Heartland Realty Investors. Brand not announced yet.

Yeah, they are going to be closed until April...pretty odd for a hotel, but it really needed the renovation bad.

Rumor has it that the former Holiday Inn Metrodome will be a Marriott product...maybe a courtyard.

Isn't there a Courtyard by Marriott pretty nearby at the Milwaukee Rd Depot? I know because I stayed there one night in an attempt to hook up, not knowing how damn expensive it was!

Yes, there is. Courtyards are pretty run of the mill...their price point is pretty much right in the middle.

That is purely a rumor i have heard among hotel sales people...could be anything. Sometimes they are right, sometimes not.

That Holiday Inn has a pretty nice jacuzzi suite on the top floor, or at least it used to, I can't find any mention of it anymore.

Speaking of Millenium Hotel, I wish this renovation would integrate the skyway into the building, so they could get rid of the skyway that hugs the side and covers the sidewalk on 13th Street. http://goo.gl/maps/nyVu2
