Because a partial article mostly behind a paywall is providing enough information for you to come to that conclusion?Well, they must not be wealthy enough to make the Handicraft Building a cultural center.Their proposal is a money making endeavor.Uh, Mr. Pratt and Mr. Ordway with thier respective spouses are. However, that would take a great deal of money. Know any wealthy patron of the arts?

^Just being tongue-in cheek about their wealth. I think its great they are going to renovate this building. But I do like the idea of a visual arts or early 20th century architecture center here ( in conjuction with MIA). This historic building certainly has other potential than just being another upscale "soup de jour" apartment building for 2012.
Re: Handicraft Building Apartments
Any news on this project. Look forward to seeing images of the design.

I know Real Estate Recycling moved into the Mozaic, thats the only news I've heard regarding this site.

Re: Handicraft Building Apartments
From their website-
http://prattordway.com/mn-properties/mi ... s/nicolletThis redevelopment site is located right on Nicollet Mall in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. It currently comprises four parcels on 10th Street between Nicollet and Marquette, including the historic Handicraft Guild Building. The remaining parcels are planned to form the site of a significant new construction project that is currently in the planning stages.

Re: Handicraft Building Apartments
How recently was that project page updated? It's still including the Nicollet Mall parcels that were purchased by Target and turned into their employee lounge. Unless they're working with Target on something we don't know about, which seems unlikely given what we know of Target's plans.
Re: Handicraft Building Apartments
I suspect that web page is quite old. Pratt-Ordway were the one who were going to build The Nicollet, and Miller-Dunwiddie Architects were slated to renovate the Handicraft Building. Nothing's been done and Pratt-Ordway no longer have control of that parcel (although someone please correct me if that's wrong).

Does any insider have any news about this potential development? Would love to see the Handicraft building lovingly restored.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Is that a parking podium I don't see any trace of whatsoever? I think so!

Unrelated to current discussion on schools, but have we talked about this proposed building before? https://twitter.com/smckenzie21/status/ ... 9467916288
Appears to be new to me.

I was thinking this was the Schmidt music lot but then I looked up the handicraft guild building and its the block southwest of that. So relieved the music note lot is being preserved for a future office tower. Looks like they would have to demo the buildings facing Marquette but the ground level appears to be consciously trying to re-create that facade even if what's above is completely modern. And it looks like they didn't touch the actual handicraft building. Still will probably end up in a historical preservation fight .

Whoa. That appears to preserve the existing brick facade, or is an incredibly accurate replication, at least based on that image.

That looks awful. It completely jeopardizes the massing of the Handicraft Guild Building.

Next to the handicraft? It ate half of it and scalped the rest.

Time for another new thread!
Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I can't really tell from this angle if it stops before WCCOs garden and loading dock, or if it take up the entire that large opening in the building is an easement for loading dock in addition to parking access for the building's presumable underground parking.
Edit: The first one, according to the BizJournal.

1016 is the building adjacent to the 'CCO garden & loading entrance. So this building would go up to that entrance.I can't really tell from this angle if it stops before WCCOs garden and loading dock, or if it take up the entire that large opening in the building is an easement for loading dock in addition to parking access for the building's presumable underground parking.
