Late to the party here, but it's pretty clear to me that the plan labeled as "Lower Level One" is actually the basement level. You can see that that level projects beyond the column grid (also shows up in the massing model). And it makes a lot more sense to put the bowling alley in the basement than at street level.

You may all have already figured that out, but the Strib and Biz Journal both didn't.

Overall, super impressive plan. I could quibble with some little stuff, but if they said they're breaking ground on this tomorrow, I'd be ecstatic.

I feel like it makes no sense to sever the skyway connection to the Radison Blu that went through the old Men's suit section.

It's not even a skyway, just a connection between buildings.

Anyway, you can get to Radisson Blue via the office tower lobby too (as shown on the level two drawings), so maybe Radisson is okay with just one entrance.

Would they have been the renderings and links to them? Bummer. Hope we have great news with MORE info by the end of the month. (Didn't I read late October somewhere?)

The link in the Strib article is still live, and leads to the same imgur album.

The skyway level has new ads/art today. Some are just famous quotes and there is one with a stylized "The Dayton's Project" with a website www.thedaytonsproject.com or is it just daytonsproject.com? Neither seems to work.

Looks like www.thedaytonsproject.com is a real site that is just a blank white page, whereas www.daytonsproject.com doesn't have a DNS entry. Hopefully they announce soon.

Oh my goodness. Updated renderings in the Strib. Eric Dayton on the project. The 5th floor is going to be some sought after office space. I want my office right in this corner

Also the art deco bathroom is staying. Just for you Nathan (I love it too)

I'm certainly down with this vision, I'm just curious why they think an inward-facing mall is going to work downtown when there are multiple examples of it never taking off... You can point to a failed version of this project built each decade going back at least 40 years.

Eric Dayton, who has been campaigning for downtown property owners and workers to return to the streets from the skyways, said he was impressed by the developers’ ideas for opening up the building to Nicollet Mall.

“I think it’s really exciting to see the building opening back up to the street,” he said. “The difference that makes of taking a building that was really inwardly oriented and flipping that and opening that up to the street is a huge part of creating the energy that we want on Nicollet Mall and all of downtown on the street level.”

I'm really interested to hear if they already have some leasing complete and if they'll announce flagship retailers. I'm interested to see the floorplans for levels -1, 1, and 2. Oh and if they can announce plans for the skyroom.

I hope the food hall is open late on the weekends, midnight or so. Breweries have become a great third space for informal gathering. Hope this could become a food centric third space.

Besides the food hall portion, how is this not an internal mall? Renderings make it look just like that. Good circulation, yes, but I'm not seeing it. Maybe floor plans will clear it up.

It is an internal mall; it's just not being called that. But you're correct.

1. Should the thread title be updated to be "Once and Future Dayton's Building"?

2. Isn't the entire downtown core / skyway system one giant internal mall?

What I do love about the project is that the developers are trying to give it a street presence, as well as broader use than just daytime hours. I think it will be monumental for Nicollet to gain this project. I know most of the Nicollet core is filled with mini malls, but in the Dayton building's case, what else would you do with tens of thousands of square foot floor space? It may be an internal mall, but it kind of has to be. Fingers crossed this spurs on more street level development!
