The portions of the finished exterior (The eave above the eastern entrance and the small patch on the northeast side) are less than impressive. It looks like aluminum siding, complete with buckling and uneven seam work. I am hoping for the best here and that it looks better than the shed in my back yard.

The massing and form of the building itself, however, I am loving.

How about we wait til' more is done. Seems to be pretty common on this site to judge a building before it's complete.

Agreed, the stadium is only 50% complete, of course it's not going to look great at the moment. And I do not beleive there is any portion of the exteriror that is complete..

There is a nice photo of the construction progress in this article which discusses the potential to lease the morgue parking lot during games/other events at the new stadium for better park access. Looks like the photo is a week or 2 old though since 2 of those cranes have been dismantled since.

the cladding is definitely darker than the renderings/models. i don't mind a darker black but the renders show a lighter brown. it's going to look very futuristic with this black and clear glass.

The old sign from the Metrodome in the lower right of the camera view is starting to be dismantled. The only ad remaining on it now is for US Bank. A hint of the name of the new stadium perhaps?

What looks to be the last piece of the main roof truss is strapped to the large crawler crane. Guess they'll be lifting it tomorrow.

There are two more sections of the main truss left. They also need to build one of the green temporary supports to hold them up so it will be a while until the main truss is complete - I think it will be sometime in June.

Shouldn't this thing have a name by now? How far along was Target Field before they named it "Target Field"?

Target Field was named in September 2008, with the park opening April 2010.

Do you mean the second to last section of the spine truss? The queen post trusses are those framing off of the spine, with the arcing bottom chords and two vertical posts each. The spine truss is a kind of modified Warren truss.

A king post truss has one vertical post supporting a bottom chord, whereas a queen post truss has two vertical posts. /semantics
