Who gets that money? Does that go towards paying off the state's bonds? Or right into the pockets of the Wilf's?

TCF sure got a sweet deal. Obviously, not nearly as valuable as the new Vikings Stadium, but maybe closer to double what they paid would have been better.

What do you guys think of the new rendering? Are the naming rights prominent enough?

If they really go with just the black and grey color scheme in the updated renderings, that would look amazing. Love that so much more than having all the advertiser's colors. Kind of the way Fenway does advertising on the outfield walls. Only green and white is allowed.

That fly-through animation is ludicrous. They show the pivoting doors as though someone - even without a ticket - will be able to just saunter in. Where are the security bollards? Where are the ticketing machines?

Perhaps the entire block will be a ticketed zone :/

I take it 20 years is how long they expect the new stadium to last before the Vikings get a new one?

While I get that it's US Bank's purview to plaster their logo all over the place, I find that misplaced logos on buildings cheapen the whole experience. One of the reasons why I think the Minneapolis skyline is beautiful is because of the lack of signs on buildings. I believe good sign examples would include both iconic types, like "Gold Medal Flour,' and the more subtle "Twins Ballpark" type signage. These seem to fold into the design/feel of the building without detracting.

In other words, will you be able to see the roof "US Bank Stadium" signage from space?

You mean like on Google maps? Of course you will. Look at the other NFL venues with fixed roofs.

I wouldn't be so sure. The roof is banked, so a logo would be visible from more than just Google maps and airplanes.

It will be interesting to see what they determine for final signage. This is a pretty huge and dramatic building, and while I tend to like the Vikings logo, I don't know that a giant cartoon viking head is the best look. That wall fronting the Commons will have to have something, though. What do our design-centric posters suggest?

I guess I should have done the "s/" sarcasm thing: I just think it's a little much is all. The font size they choose is a full city block long. While a quick google search shows that other stadiums did the same thing, I guess it's just not for me. To expand on the Target Field signage further, there are a total of two billboard-sized signs on the entire building: one at the main Target Center entrance, and another behind the scoreboard. The rest are pedestrian sized. They also seem to blend into the building more naturally in such that they're there if need them, and hidden if you don't. The black on white/white on black, high-contrast, large sized letting of the Vikings Stadium jump out at me. Good for US Bank's marketing department, but I'm not sure it's doing any favors for Minneapolis. Superficial, I know, but I believe the City's image matters.

I know I'm nit-picking, but I don't like the look of the state behind the Vikings logo; I'd prefer to just have the logo. I don't even mind the US Bank signage over it, but it just looks strange with the state behind it.

^ Remember, that graphic below the US Bank logo is the LED display. It will be different depending upon the event.

I didn't realize it was going to be so dark. I was expecting a light grey/silver color.
