Speaking of missed opportunities, it seems like all this earthworks misses the opportunity to prepare for a regrid to connect DTE, Seven Corners, and Cedar Riverside.

According to @andersonj on Twitter. https://twitter.com/andersonj

The Metrodome tear down will begin after power is shut off on January 18. The Roof will deflate in less than 30 Minutes. (we've seen it done quicker)

Eighty trucks on site are removing soil between 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The Vikings are also having cameras professionally installed and the webcams should be up and running before the last game. (12/29)

The startribune also has a little write up. http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikin ... 54911.html

I gave this exact feedback in the community input survey they sent out. It's really frustrating how many projects go on in a vacuum (Nicollet Mall re-do, Vikings Stadium, MOA expansion, etc etc) without leveraging other potential major improvements. If we can't tear down all these urban freeways ( :) ), we might as well mitigate their impacts as much as humanly possible.

The fact that it's live video is way cool. Unfortunately, the fact that it's live video means the images are crazy low-def and I can't go back in time to check out things that have changed. Call me a curmudgeon, but I'd prefer a good ol' OxBlue.

I much preferred the one from the Twins build. I spent so much time on that I think I wore the thing out.

Ditto. At one point I even had a script running that would download the 12:00 image each day to my computer so I could eventually stitch together my own time-lapse. Then they went and changed the filenames so my script broke and I never got around to fixing it. That's not to say it wasn't an awesome camera. I loooved that thing.

It appeared to be live. I was looking at it at 1030 last night. All dark and traffic with lights on. I thought I read the construction was only going to be 6am to 6pm? Something like that.

There will be more cameras added soon. The Vikings said they would be up before the last game (12/29)

The new Vikings stadium has already lost its first bid to host a major event. Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay beat out the new Vikings stadium as host site for the 2017 College Football National Championship Game.

The Strib says that 350,000 cubic yards of fill from the stadium site are destined for a property at 109th & Lexington in Blaine owned by Allina Health. I can't see much reason to send dirt that far (17 miles), so they must be planning something up there -- the area currently looks pretty swampy.

These types of things are not uncommon with these kind of developments; however, the Wilfs would do themselves a huge favor to come out publicly and say that they are donating the money or putting it towards something within the stadium.
Not only does it leave a sour taste in many peoples mouths, but also is a lost opportunity to gain public support.

Dirt hauling is happening between 6pm and 6am.

· Eighty (80) trucks are currently hauling dirt from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night from the site. The majority of the trucks are independently-owned and operated by Minnesotans, primarily women and minorities.

also a watershed time from last night. around 7-730 a lot of k-rail and fencing was being placing on the south side. Also the players lot? was torn up and the night work went all night. the deconstruction will be interesting to watch as will the construction.
