So the Twins have had a front-row seat for the growth of the area surrounding the stadium for the last 15 years and thought this property would sit vacant forever?

If they were so worried they should have built an enclosed stadium.

The Twins are officially "that" neighbor at the meeting who doesn't get that they don't actually own the subject property. I get that they're all about their bottom line and are worried about marketing rights, but it's like they don't realize that an increasingly vibrant area surrounding the ballpark will actually strengthen their financial prospects with more folks going to games for the overall experience and atmosphere. Hopefully it's just a play to get some sort of advertising agreement with Hines?

The Twins don't own the land, but they *did* impart quite a few conditions onto it as terms of their purchase of the Target Field site from the previous owners, who owned both parcels. Those terms are legally binding -- whether or not the new proposal is in violation of those terms is unclear.

it would be such a shame if they derail this development. It's seems so rare we get nice to decent development that also works to build new public sidewalk connections. Having that nice step down to the trail is going to be a major benefit for so many. This actually is going to connect our version of the union depot to downtown with a lovely outdoor staircase. If the twins derail this project they are fighting against not only commutiers via the Northstar but future transit goers to there games via the Northstar and the soon to be build Northern Lights Express. Plus any future train lines that were to come.

Twins couldn't be that evil they would destroy that... could they?

Apparently The St. Louis Cardinals have no issues with a big glass tower in the batters eye straight out in center field. I feel like this would be worse for the players. Horrible excuse by the Pohlads. This thing will get built.

Looks like the Cardinals own at least part of the project if not most, the president of the team appears to be the public face of it. Funny how that works.

I suspect the next update we'll get will be the parking lot closing.

I actually visited the site this morning and cars are still parked there, but there was a dumpster on the south end of the lot., Not sure if it was for one of the buildings there or for prep work. Hard to tell since it wasn't up close to anything.

The FAA site shows that they got their crane(?)/building height(?) permits recently. One has a work schedule of 04/01/2021 to 10/30/2023 and the other is 10/19/2020 to 11/08/2022.

It says structure height is 418

The second one for the FAA lists a much taller building height but I think that is crane height during construction.

I believe that 418' is the height from the actual ground level - the parking lot and Dock St. I never was able to figure out why all the CPC documents went along with "5th St is the ground" thing.

Similarly, I'm excited for this to start and get about 6 months in so we learn what, if anything, they're going to do about 5th St being pretty significantly sloped, not flat like it's shown in all their drawings.

It has been fun to see the Gateway starting to shape the skyline, hopefully toward the end of that project we'll get to see both under construction.
