Seems to be an improvement over the current condition, especially if it helps to keep the sidewalk next to TC clear of show staging, etc.

Maybe they're looking to the future, when Hennepin will have a badass protected bikeway and the lanes on 1st can be removed. That's totally gonna happen, right?!

In all seriousness, that's a missed opportunity. Also, considering this is supposed to be part of the 9th St/7th St N protected bikeway, this doesn't look at all adequate, especially considering how busy this area can be.

One thing it does better than the current configuration is the connection to Glenwood Ave (west from N. 2nd Ave) from 7th. There's even a turn lane so that you can know that maneuver is possible. Perhaps this could be a catalyst towards getting the one block of Glenwood that's one-way (over 394) turned into a 2-way so that you could could actually drive to Lee's/anything on Glenwood in a rational way from downtown.

The bigger fix is the entrance/exit with Ramp A. Currently there is a strange little street and extra stoplight on 9th. I can only imagine how bad it gets after events.

Is this scheduled? How soon could we see work?

While were at it, just rename all of 1st Avenue N as 1st Avenue. Dump Hawthorne entirely (north/east of 12th St anyways).

Of course, I dream of a two-way 7th Street all the way to 2nd Ave, then splitting into 7th/8th. Would make an east-west transit spine more direct and logical. It looks like there's room to widen the 7th St bridge towards the A ramp.

I actually like it. Much better than the 80's looking mess that's there now.

1. They kept "The Beak" theme going for the main entrance. Seriously, all I can see in that main rendering used by the media is a chicken's head.

2. It's a shame they're building such a bland loading dock expansion on the south side. You'd think they could have built the loading dock into the A ramp across the street, underneath the bus terminal and between the Hawthorne Ramp and the I-394 trench. It could be accessible via a ramp down from the bus-only "street" that cuts through the bottom of the A ramp.

3. Regarding the city's plans to redo the intersections on the south side of this project: There really should be a contraflow lane along 7th/9th from 2nd Ave. There's a contraflow lane on 2nd Ave southbound until just past the A ramp, where vehicles must turn left onto 10th St. The street grid is so botched over in this corner of downtown that the least we could do is provide as many two-way streets as possible. It would likely help the un/underdevloped areas around Target Center be more appealing for reuse (I'm thinking of the parking lot behind the chiller and O'Donovan's) and less like a get-out-of-town zone. It would also help connect other redevelopment areas such as the Glenwood corridor through the West Loop.

I like the Alternate Signage option on the last two pages. It's better integrated onto the building surface. The other option looks like a billboard that has been stuck on.

I looked at the renderings before reading the text, and initially thought they were covering it in a nice oak or teak, but that would have been too Scandinavian.

Lets just be honest the exterior of the Target Center is and will likely always be a turd. Yes it's an improvement but to make it worse than it currently is they would actively have to try to do so. To renovate the Target Center to the point where we won't be back at this same point in 15 years it was going to take way more than was ever going to be committed to this project.

I know a lot of people are anti-skyway...but that new skyway connection would save an awful lot of time looping all the way around the building to get in from the ramps. I hope that is incorporated.
