I approve, let's do it now!
Love the loading dock on the side. That's going to be awesome if well adorned. I just said adorned. Exciting.

Re: IPR Building
I used to live a mile from the Iron Horse in Milwaukee and ate brunch there several times. I can tell you that the designers respected and enhanced the features of the old building. They picked out appropriate colors and styles that complimented what was already there. There was a special emphasis on artwork. I am truly excited that they will do the same in the North Loop. The plans for the Iron Horse have been floating around for quite some time. David Frank mentioned a purchase agreement during a North Loop Neighborhood Association meeting back in November, and I'm happy that the project seems to be progressing. Take a look at what Iron Horse did in Milwaukee, and it raises hopes for what the Jackson Building might become: http://www.theironhorsehotel.com/
Unfortunately for Milwaukee the hotel did not spur any other development. It is still surrounded by empty brownfields and storage warehouses. I don’t expect the same for the North Loop hotel.

Ah... I was wondering about this, because I was looking at the google aerials around the hotel and it seemed a little isolated. Such a cool building, too!

Re: IPR Building - (314 Washington Ave N)
It is on the edge of the Menomonee Valley, which is the former industrial heart of the city. The adjacent viaduct flies over the valley, downtown on one end and the Iron Horse on the other. The Iron Horse is on the northern edge of Walker's Point, which is home to a bunch of Mexican restaurants. It's still a little rough, but it's adjacent to the 3rd and 5th Wards that are Milwaukee's equivalent to the North Loop.

A beautiful building and a great preservation project. It makes it sad to think what could have been done with the Metropolitan Building.

It looks like they are going to do an amazing job on this project. Can't wait to see how the building in brought back to life. It'll be nice having a boutique hotel on this end of downtown.

I drove by this building today and it is going to be an awesome project. A perfect location for a hotel with tons of bar/restaurant option within walking distance. I love how the windows slightly morph on each level. Should be beautiful when done!!!

When rehabbed it will be a gem on the outside. I hope for some uniqueness to remain on the inside as well. It will be a North Loop destination once it opens.I drove by this building today and it is going to be an awesome project. The rooftop addition kind of makes me squint, I'm absolutely not against having one in fact I'd like to see it done, but I'm not convinced it's "right" yet in an indescribable way. Don't have the words yet for what would make me think the rooftop is perfect.
