He's talking about the twins' performance this season. Not any particular view of the city.
It doesn't bother me that I am so dense sometimes. It bothers me that I am so publicly dense.
No shame. We're all pro density here! ;)

Do trains stop at the new station now or both station at Target field?
Most of the time, trains stop at both stations. During big events, Blue Line trains load at platform 1 (the old one) and green line trains load at platform 2.

“We are working on a mixed-use project [with] a retail entertainment venue at the street level, and we are attempting to put a smaller hotel on top of that — a select-service, extended-stay type of brand,” said Bill Katter, co-president and chief investment officer of United Properties.

Katter said the entertainment venue will be some kind of music hall for concerts, and it also will have a restaurant, but the firm declined to get more specific. UP will submit plans to the city before the summer and hopes to break ground in 2017.

That has the potential to be very cool. Looks like we're out of luck for a tower, but hopefully a 100x200' site means that even a smaller hotel will still be 6-7 stories.

Probably wishful thinking, but it would be great iff they could include an open, public staircase up from 5th to the western track crossing. It's deceptively circuitous to get to Platform 2 from anywhere except Target Field itself.

The music venue portion alone would have to be pretty tall, wouldn't it?

Would be awesome to have the music venue entrance across from holiday and be partially under ground, the restaurant at ground level with target field station and caribou, a bunch of well concealed parking and stories of hotel. Maybe ending up at 10 stories?

Both the previous office and hotel plans were penciled at 9-11 stories, so I'd expect something similar for this concept. Oddly enough, this was initially planned to be a hotel, then United switched to office (see images from 2014), and now they're back at hotel.

Office:Image

Safe to say whatever they come up with won't be as bland as this office building. The street presence was awful.

Huh? Isn't that what the amphitheater thing is?

There was also this much more interesting version with equally bad street presence. I really hope they can do something engaging visually and for the street. Hopefully they're coming to terms with that.

I didn't think United Properties did "creative". They ignore both function and form and go for bland and inexpensive. I fully expect gray and looking like it belongs in a suburb.

there is a holiday gas station just across the street. Come on now, let's have high hopes but, again, gas station just across the street man.

I wish they would just focus on the other sites they already have proposals for...

Maybe Fulton moves into the development? Just spitballing, but they seem badly undersized in their current location, even with most of the production moved off site. Also, their current building is broken.

United Properties revives hotel plan near Target Field

United Properties intends to build a hotel and performance venue on land it owns at the southern corner of Fifth Street North and Sixth Avenue North by the Target Field Station and the nearby baseball park in Minneapolis.

United intends to build the $45 million hotel and venue at 419 Fifth St. N.

That's a pretty decent location for a hotel in the area. Since the article is locked are there any details about height or number of rooms?

Both portions seem pretty cool. It seems like the North Loop is probably in more need of another hotel than another office building at this point anyway.

Though, it seems a little weird that two of the three North Loop hotels will be extended-stay focused.
