Target Field Station (the Hotel) & Target Field Station (the Station)
Re: Target Field Station
From what I saw, 99% of people crossed the tracks at grade and headed down 5th Ave. It doesn't really make sense to use the stairs.

Wow! That surprises me. I will have to check it out next time I am at a game. To me it seems like the same distance and would provide more space. From what I saw, 99% of people crossed the tracks at grade and headed down 5th Ave. It doesn't really make sense to use the stairs.

Yeah can we wait for maybe a few months before we say "the stairs won't get much use if any" we jump to conclusion a bit too much on here
Re: Target Field Station
It's definitely not the same distance. And the grade at the bottom of the stairs is lower than 5th ave so you need to walk down and then back up. If, for example, you're walking to the game from 5th Ave, there is absolutely nothing to entice people to walk down to the stairs in order to walk up them (even though that's what I did. Alas -- I was alone)
Maybe people will start to use them exiting games once they realize it might be quicker than crossing the tracks. But that isn't really my point. It's that the funnel into the station is really just a staircase to nowhere. The only way most of these areas will see regular use is if there is dramatic development south of the viaduct. So it's going to be mostly unused for a long time.

Re: Target Field Station
Disagree that the stairs won't get much use. Clearly, they're oriented much more to 5th Avenue than 5th Street, and there are a lot of people who walk down here before and after games. It will take people a few visits to figure it out, but it's much more convenient and faster than the alternative.

Isn't that the point? Or is this actually a job and I haven't been receiving my paychecks?Yeah can we wait for maybe a few months before we say "the stairs won't get much use if any" we jump to conclusion a bit too much on here

To jump to conclusion? I actually have no idea what the ___ the point of this is, I thought it was just debate and discussion. Not whine about everything and point out small "mistakes"

I'd prefer a place that's both not a job and not a place to jump to conclusions. Which way is that?Isn't that the point? Re: Target Field Station
Okay so back to the Target Field Station
Re: Target Field Station
Really think it's a beaut! The granite relief artworks is beautiful and the landscaping is well done. Looks like some of the stones from the old Metropolitan were used for the fountain outside Caribou Coffee. Also - love Caribou's space here - part of me wishes it was on the upper level though. Seems like it would get more traffic. Once and hopefully that hotel and Hines office development are built - it will really be much busier.Okay so back to the Target Field Station
Now - just waiting or Peavey Plaza to be renovated into an equally pleasing public space.
Re: Target Field Station
i'm pleased too with how this has turned out. a nice amenity for this growing neighborhood.
Re: Target Field Station
that's what you get when you don't have the mall of America sucking all the desirable retail out of downtown. To give you a little perspective, this is essentially the busiest part of Seattle. When I was their, there weren't as many people. But this starbucks is next to a classy mall which is close to a ton of shopping. It's pretty cool to be honest.Look how many people are walking on the streets!
Re: Target Field Station
Not sure where to put this so this seems as good a forum as any. There is a crane up at the HERC and it appears they're painting it a less ugly color to match target field station.

I feel like that is a lot of paint! Lol was there some sort of deal to beautify it? I thought I'd only seen ideas tossed aroundNot sure where to put this so this sees as good a forum as any. The new paint seems to be a gentle off white. They were only working on the stacks when I looked, so who knows how the paint scheme is going to carry over to the main structure.

Went to the twins game today, we all loaded at the old platform. Even the green line test train stopped at the old platform...
Re: Target Field Station
Will they be showing World Cup matches from here? We have plenty of private places showing the games but no public one that I know of. This seems like a perfect opportunity to do so.
