As I said, I understand why they're being used, and I don't doubt that they're strong enough to support the building.

But long term, I have concerns about thermal conductivity, waterproofing, and corrosion.

Like other things that developers do, it seems like a building system that saves some time and money up front but may not perform as well in the future.

MNdible, thanks for specifying. I'm not invested in the technology in any way, but rather fascinated by it, and I appreciate you listing your concerns.

MNdible, you raise some good points. I was walking by the site and wondering if the column joints could have water leakage issues. Maybe you know, but I was thinking (perhaps) they put some type of sealant in the joints to prevent that from occurring ?

Noticed a little baby crane on its way up here.

On its way to careen into the glass of the Vikings Stadium?

;P

(Probably too many inferences in this horrible attempt at humor)

Continues to go up quickly. Much faster than Abiitan or whatever it's called next door.

It's kind of an interesting construction method. But it's moving along well!

Gosh, it looks kinda wimpy compared to everything around it.

For years I was hoping to see a Carlyle twin or triplet on that site.

That's a nicely shoveled sidewalk in the foreground.

You cant really say this "topped out" as they worked west to eat on this but it appears the first building is completely framed out, and construction has begun on the second story of the second building. Talk about a huge change in atmosphere over here. Only one or two lots of huge consequence in mill city. Love it.

This building is pretty much waiting for nice weather to get some of the siding put up. Most work right now is on the interior. The Abiitan next door has stick construction completed on the very east end of the building. They are doing this building like the Mill Quarter in sections. This one is east working west.

Nice pictures Aaron. I was walking by these yesterday. I think your first picture captures the essence of these buildings well. The siding on these buildings floors 2 and up is just terrible, but the brick work is really nice.

I'm still waiting for the woonerf to connect to the river. At the moment, it looks like it will end just south under the the 3rd Ave. bridge, in a Thelma & Louise sort of way.
