Yes, there were City offices in the Ceresota building for a while. Some of the staff currently working in the Crown Roller Mill (the building across the plaza) used to work in the Ceresota building.

Thank you for that correction. I knew of the Crown Rollers offices, But I was seldom in the Ceresota to see much over their tenant list over the years. I mainly went in to get a glimpse of how they worked the building and the lack of south windows in the space.

This project is SO cool! I love adaptive reuse projects like these that take old dilapidated buildings that are architectural marvels and remake them into something useful and beautiful. Not only is it interesting and beautiful, but also sustainable! The company I work for (Forest City) does a lot of adaptive reuse as well.

The only thing they need the CUP for is this 9th floor deck or porch, otherwise this thing appears to be 100% a renovation. Floors 9-11 are private one-floor residences that must be in incredibly expensive because they will have unobstructed 360-degree views right at the St. Anthony Falls! Oh how I wish I were rich enough to live here!

Uh, well, the deck is not the only thing that needs a CUP, they also need one for the use. This is actually proposed to be an assisted living facility, and I'm not saying you don't qualify, but you may not want to be so eager to get in.

I meant to post earlier about this; they have been working on this renovation into 57 units of senior housing for at least a month. I noticed walking by that they have a garbage shoot for renovation work on the river side of the building.

Lots of senior housing going up in this immediate area. As someone who works nearby, I wonder if this is good or bad for the sad little Eddington's location on the first floor of this building.

Good. Older folks probably like excessively salty soup.

Brought under control fairly quickly according to this article. They were doing some welding which threw sparks and ignited some insulation.

Any word on what kind of set back the fire damage did to this building?? How many months of a set back it will now have until it opens again.

Very minor, thanks for that knowledge. Glad to hear all is still very well with the project.

IS this building yet open to residents? Did the fire they had last summer set them back that far?

The owner reported the fire impact as minor, and the building still seems to be under construction, no signs of residents yet.

I don't understand this project. How is a building that is essentially without windows being converted into housing?

Old people don't need windows.

Been awhile since I was last by the building, but I do believe that the windows are on the river side of the building. The façade facing south is historic due to the advertising that was saved and why that side was not able to be altered.
