It's part of the Somali mall, though who knows how it will be used (probably the Planning Commission notes, but I don't wanna dig for those)

Umm...It's certainly not dead. Reconstruction of those streets will be happening in several years. Restriping could happen any time.Let's not beat this bead horse another time. We have pages and pages of this already and we don't need to fill more pages with this subject that has been over talked. The horse is dead, rigamortius has set in. Please bury this subject once and for all.

Walgreens at 44th and Chicago is sold. Saw this one coming. Eager for something better than a pro forma Walgreens redo. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/n ... polis.html
3725 Nicollet
More redevelopment in Kingfield:

This is the lot (there's two lots actually) just north of the Mercado with the house that had recently been torn down.

I just went to Q Fanatic about a week ago and thought it was great. I'm looking forward to trying more.

I've always wondered why that restaurant space has so much trouble staying open. This should draw better than Peruvian.
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.
Re: Southside - General Topics
I feel like that Peruvian restaurant was under construction for two years but only open for a month.

Great to see the continuing redevelopment of south Nicollet Ave!!!
I have seen some people working on this, but I haven't stopped to really check it out. I am very much looking forward to when they open.

Re: Southside - General Topics
Do we have a thread for the 3000s-4000s of Nicollet anywhere?
Finer Meats is waiting on inspector approval for their food truck, which they will start serving out of from out in front of their shop. Another exciting addition to this area.
Re: Southside - General Topics
They have money to burn on a food truck? Should have spent it on the shop . It's straight out of USSR circa 1985. Sans the 400 person line. Cool sign though.
Towns!

Heading over the Washington Ave bridge earlier this week I notices a tower crane in the landslide area behind the Fairview hospital on west river road. Anyone know what the plan is to shore up that section of land behind the hospital? Question is, will they get it done before the snow falls?

Literally two seconds on Google.

I know Basim Sabri is far from the most beloved developer in the twin cities. I also know that he's done a heck of a good job with properties like this:
http://m.startribune.com/local/minneapo ... ?section=/
We urbanists talk a lot about how we want to bring back our locally owned, small stores to create a vibrant retail scene that is a destination in itself. You hear Frey talk about that vision a lot in regards to downtown and NE. I'd say the south siders and these minority groups might know something we don't.

How many years has construction at the Pillsbury mall sat unfinished? At least two. His residential project across the greenway was sorta completed earlier this year after many years of construction.

Don't know if anyone caught it on the Planning Commission CoW agenda, but the city appears to finally have found a developer for 628 E Franklin! They're moving ahead with the sale:
