Anyone know what's going on with the Burger King at Nicollet and 34th? It's been closed for a week now. There's a sign on the door that says it will re-open, but I'm started to think something more might be going on. I haven't seen anyone onsite doing repairs/remodeling (I live nearby). Maybe they had a really bad health code violation?
Well, I found out some more info after seeing this article: http://www.fox9.com/news/9-burger-king- ... win-cities and reading bankruptcy filings. Burger King corporate owns the stores, including Nicollet and 34th. P3 Foods had been leasing the stores, in addition to having a franchise agreement with BK corporate. P3 Foods were horrible managers. They didn't do basic bookkeeping, and were supposed to remodel all their stores by the end of 2016. The bankruptcy court ordered P3 Foods to surrender the properties back to BK corporate. The Nicollet and 34th location will likely be leased to another franchisee or sold on the open market. I'm hoping it gets sold and redeveloped. Will have to wait and see.

Attractive little single-story building proposed for 27th and Bloomington:

It looks like this may finally be underway. Lots of earthwork happening on site.

Should the YMCA just buy this for parking? I hate to add more parking lots, but the Y parking is a disaster!

I hope not! That corner needs some retail right up to the street. Housing would also be nice. Worst case scenario I'd take a Taco Bell over a parking lot.

That BK is way to profitable for them to close. Since corporate owns it, we might even see some remodeling to bring it out of the early aughts.

There are already multiple interested parties, some of whom are already BK franchisees. There are developer types who are also interested in the property. Who knows what BK corporate prefers. That said, if it re-opens it will certainly be remodeled because the store is out of compliance with BK franchise agreements.

Does anybody know what level of improvements would trigger a new City site plan review?

Heard a rumor that a Filipino restaurant will be taking over the old coffee shop space at 43rd and Nicolette [sic].

In preparation to add 1,250 employees to their Home Mortgage campus, Wells Fargo is proposing to significantly expand their parking structure.

Planning Commission PDF here.
Wells Fargo's not really wasting much time. This looks like they've started going at it with gusto.

Any more details with this? Could be a great addition to the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, that's all I got. Heard it from a business owner across the street. Hopefully it happens!

I was not encouraged when I rode by this morning. Lake was still closed between Chicago and Park and I wondered whether that's due to risk of collapse.

Hopefully it doesn't end up like the Gustavus II Adolphus Hall further down Lake. https://goo.gl/maps/fL4V1jPzn6M2

I have a lot of photos of it now. The only way it could be salvaged is if they did something similar to Territorial Hall. Knock down everything but the facade and build back.
