Well, funny thing is one article said 7 are sold... but their website says there are 12 left.

I haven't seen that figure on the website change once. I'd go with the number given in the article, since it sounds like they actually spoke with the developer.

Going a for an amendment that will require Planning Commission action. Increase to 20 units from previously approved 18 (even though they were only planning on building 16, to my knowledge). They propose to add a partial 4th floor, thereby triggering the need for a CUP and new public hearing. Still planned to be ownership condos, according to their submittal. That makes sense, considering several have been pre-sold. The design of this one is probably the best I've seen in the current boom.

FWIW, the smaller Linden Crossing was basically approved without a peep in Oct. 2012, following the huge dust up over the larger Linden Corner proposal. I don't expect this amendment to be too controversial, but I don't doubt that someone will testify against it either, simply because they can.

The way they scale the fourth floor makes the building (as a whole) look even better, and gives it a slightly more modern feel. Can't agree more this is a gorgeous project.

Definitely a look that has great urban fabric with the existing neighborhood. I personally wish that the materials used and quality of those materials were more on par with the likes of 2626 West Lake or Edgewater, but I can't necessarily tell what the materials are just by looking at the rendering, so maybe they're in the ballpark.

On the Planning Commission Agenda for tonight; Item #12: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/meeting ... S1P-127955

Staff report: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/www/gro ... 128131.pdf
PUBLIC COMMENTS. As of the printing of this report, staff has received 13 comments from the
public in opposition to the project and the neighborhood group has not submitted comments on the
project. Any additional correspondence received prior to the public meeting will be forwarded on to
the Planning Commission for consideration.
The comments are at the end of the staff report PDF... 5 of the 13 comments are from various email addresses ending in "@mypacks.net". Strange...

If you support the partial 4th story addition (2 additional units), you should email the city planner Mei-Ling.Anderson@minneapolismn.gov today.

Thanks Twincitizen for the link. I did email the city planner with a brief message of support. The revised design with the addition of the fourth story setback actually softens and improves the building's scale with the area around it. It's hard to believe the opposition even after the dramatic decrease in size from the initial proposal. It's one of the best projects to happen anywhere in this city in years.

I just sent a quick email as well urging support for the CUP to increase height to 4 stories. I did not comment on the requests to reduce setbacks, as city staff is recommending greater setbacks than the developer requested, leaving that up to the Planning Commission's professional judgment.

Yes. The general point is the increase in height with the setbacks will have minimal impact on the surrounding area and actually improves the appearance of the structure. The details of how that exactly pans out is based on their expertise and judgement.

The opposition clearly doesn't understand the CUP process. Big surprise.

We don't need that kind of crap around here. We've had three teardown/McMansions on our block and they're all big and ugly. If someone wants 56 feet, move to Uptown, or better yet, Eden Prairie!" L. Sobaskie

What these outraged should threaten is to secede and join Edina. It is what they think they are. Greater Edina. Then they would be honest.

Does he own the property? If denied again he should tear everything down and put in a junkyard. I am not sure who these people who live in the neighborhood are but you are in the city. And I may add it really is not that nice of a neighborhood.

Did anyone watch the appeal at the Z&P meeting? I stupidly scheduled a 9:30 AM meeting for myself so I couldn't watch live (sorry boss, need to reschedule my meeting, I forgot I need to recharge my energy the tears of crying citizens).
