Construction started on this one last week; they're already cleared a got portion of the site.

They are pile driving for this place this morning and it's loud AF. It's borderline deafening at Elan. I can only imagine how loud it is over at Flux.

Started to hear the pile driving earlier this week, could not figure out what it was for. Then today on my way home from coffee I was heading towards cub and I saw the fence and the pile driver. I did not realize how deep into the lot that they were going with this building. The piles are being driven right next to the alleyway.

Yep. Feelin' the vibrations at our house. Today they had some kind of continuously-humming piece of equipment out. We could feel the vibrations in the plumbing fixtures.

Kind of fascinating how well it passes through the earth.

We did not experience the same with the Colfax project. That location is a bit further away from us, but not much.

This project is now one story of stick construction.

Here's a view of the development from my apartment yesterday. I saw them working on it on Saturday so it would appear they have a 6 day work schedule to get this finished. On an unrelated note, as you can see in the picture, they are building something on the northeast side of the roof at Flux.

This project may have damaged our house. Bringing out a structural engineer to take a look. A bunch of cracks appeared on the wall during and after the pile driving.

That sucks. Any chance that you have before photos? It would help make a case if you need to...

Call 311... They should send out a building inspector to look at this... You'll get faster attention if the city made aware of potential construction damage...

We had a structural engineer out yesterday. Fortunately, he said all of the cracks are purely cosmetic. He sees no issues with the foundation. So it looks like we won't be hit with a surprise mega-bill for foundation repair. Still, the cracking is annoying and maybe the city should know about it?

Pile driving is long done so I'm not sure it's worth actually contacting the city. Thoughts?

My somewhat solicited, somewhat expert advice: Talk to your neighbors. See if anyone else has noticed a similar effect. If you are inclined to tell the city, it will have a much larger impact to be speaking on behalf of a group than as an individual.

It's a bit sad, but I kind of preferred the green of the insulation layer more than the finished color.

Also, thanks for all of the pictures.

Brick is nice. I think it's a mistake to have so little contrast across the board (light brick, light grey, light beige). The windows are "darker" but not dark enough for significant contrast - makes the whole thing so middling. A significant architectural move that brings down a wall surface and breaks the brick across the facade like this should have a lot more punch/contrast.
