Committee of the Whole packet for a 6-story, 75 unit building next to Mortimer's at the SE corner of Franklin and Lyndale.

Chroma getting a pinball bar and Mort's sold. Hopefully Mort's doesn't change toooo much. I'll miss Gringo's but it always seemed underutilized.

Exciting news! Sounds like frank- lyn could end up becoming a bit of a neighborhood! Into it.

Totally, that intersection always seemed like a place that you pass through but never stay to do anything.

If you haven't been hanging out at Mortimer's, your loss.

I wouldn't go quite that far (Rudolph's, Mortimer's, the Wedge, Hum's, Caffetto, Red Dragon), but the overall eyeball feel of the area is definitely Potentially Epic Destination Not Fully Utilized. And more people living nearby will certainly help with that. As a nearby condo owner, I want to YIMBY-hug this thing until its eyes pop out.

Yes any and all of us wedge owners/renters need to support these!

But what about traffic and parking, Nathan? And maybe's there a view that will be blocked? Do we really need more people in the neighborhood? And worse, renters? ;)

so this is going NEXT to mortimer's? I'd hate to see the house behind mortimer's go. I really like the urban juxtaposition of it being right on the sidewalk.

edit: the house is staying :) maybe I should click on links before asking stupid questions. this is beautiful. BUILD IT NAO PLZ!

I read that this starts groundbreaking this week. I haven't driven by the property yet to see if construction barriers have been installed.

I haven't seen any activity on site, but I'll look again this evening. Did this already have a thread?

Doesn't this require tearing down part of the Mort's building? I drive by this site every day and haven't seen any activity.

If this does break ground soon, that would be a pretty quick pace from first reveal to construction (roughly 6 months). Kudos to CPM for that. Meanwhile, Master Properties hasn't broken ground yet on either of their projects in the area, one of which (FrankLyn) is going on 3.5 years since we first heard about it

Mortimer's is staying, but losing one of it's 'annexes', as I understand it. Thank God. The death of the Minneapolis dive bar is one of the great tragedies of our time.

Yes, that's what I meant—one of the annexes.

I'm also quite happy that Mort's is sticking around. It's nice to have a dive bar in my neighborhood.

I believe that it's only the occassionally open Gringo's that will be demolished.
