Maybe this has been posted before, but according to a Facebook post of an acquaintance he will be delivering sandwiches for Caffreys starting tomorrow. So, they're back?

Hoban Korean BBQ has officially opened. I can hardly contain my excitement.

The plywood is down at the New Bohmemia in the Blue. Looks like they added a couple of roll up doors going out to the sheltered patio. Looks like a lot of work has been done, so let's hope for an late March/early April opening.

There's really no vacant space large enough for something like that in Lyn-Lake, is there? Maybe LynLake Brewery would become LynLake Brewery & Up-Down Arcade Bar, add the vacant storefront just to the north, and connect the two internally?

Not that I can think of off hand, but I've been to the Up-Down in Des Moines many times, and it's actually a rather small space with very little seating. Kind of like the Turf Club basement sized. You can fit a lot of video game consoles in a space like that though.

I've noticed that the old Falfal King space now has a few walls down so that the whole 1st floor can be used by a single tenant. I'm guess the corner of Lake and Lyndale. Seeing as Chipotle now is giving away 1 M burritos to get customers back. I think that space is open for another tenant, as the rumor they were moving in sure has not materialized. Not sure what the SF is for the full 1st floor, but I think you could get a bar and more than a few games in on both sides,.

Sorry, I forgot to post something about that. I get the emails for the CARAG land use/transpo agendas, and this was an item last week:

"Up Down Restaurant- 3012/14 Lyndale. Josh Ivey/ Laura Boyd"

I didn't go (rarely do given PAC meetings and a kid), but didn't think anything of it. Not sure if this includes the arcade games found elsewhere. I'll post if I hear anything.

This must really be happening. "Up-down Minneapolis Inc" pulled a permit on January 12th for interior demolition. Looks like they're going to remove the front exterior fence gate and stone pier as well.

Josh Ivey is one of the owners of Up-Down in Des Moines. This is incredible.

On the bus today I saw the windows papered over. So that would indicate that something is happening at that address.

Country Bar sign is up, and it looks like it's pretty cool.

It blocks about half the second floor windows though, which got me thinking: are there rules about that sort of thing? I know windows get blocked closed up all the time, but I'd think the fire department would want a few left available...
