It's a great concept for the area and I think they'll knock it out of the park. But I'm also a bit surprised at their success because the first time I ate at the Minneapolis location I thought they'd go under before too long. Not really my vibe but they certainly appeal to a lot of people.I must have missed it. This will be a nice addition, though. Too many new restaurants in the busy neighborhoods are expensive and/or formal. New Bohemia is unique food, reasonably priced, casual and has a big beer list. That's all you want sometimes.
Kind of interesting that this will now be their fourth restaurant, though. Kind of surprised it's been that successful.

Is this the latest miss in the old Filigo space in Calhoun Square?

So strange how nothing seems to work there. Is this the latest miss in the old Filigo space in Calhoun Square?
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
When I've gone thru the area on the weekend evenings, it looks like Lagoon is the main street that I see silly fools standing out in the cold waiting to get in. Don't think that Lake is that popular right now. Anyone know how Libertine and Senca Bar are doing for crowds on the weekends?

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Anyone know if they did a weekend brunch there? Seem that Filigo had great weekend brunch business there when they were open. But then again Filigo's did not have the number of new competitors that are now open also.Well they were the state's delinquent tax list,

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Not that strange. I walk there all the time and always forget there's a restaurant there. It just does not have very good street visibility. Honestly, it could use a sign perpendicular to the facade to alert sidewalk walkers. So strange how nothing seems to work there. Is this the latest miss in the old Filigo space in Calhoun Square?
Then again the Calhoun Cafeteria Comfort Therapy Session Hug Group had enormous signage and...
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
The rent is too high. You would have to be one of the ten highest grossing restaurants in the state to make it there. All of the restaurants in Minneapolis that fall within that group would be steakhouses or high risk high reward independents that paid off, like Hell's Kitchen or Psycho Suzi's. It is very hard to plan a $10 million a year restaurant that doesn't sell $50 steaks. So strange how nothing seems to work there. Is this the latest miss in the old Filigo space in Calhoun Square?
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Yep. It's a large, expensive space. Paraella was very good but never had a chance there. Is it practical to sub-divide this thing?
Weird that Libertine is working out.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I've no idea about practicality, but that's what I'd personally prefer. I think multiple storefronts would make the whole area work better. There's already a glut of restaurants so one fewer isn't going to hurt. More stores might attract more shoppers. Is it practical to sub-divide this thing?

I want a food option that's fast and something other than pizza and sandwiches.
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Calhoun Square should be 'dozed
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
A http://onetwothreesushi.com would be awesome but probably wouldn't work with all the other sushi competition in the immediate area.I want a food option that's fast and something other than pizza and sandwiches.

I was just thinking onetwothree. Seriously right now the options are Jersey Mikes, Jimmy Johns, Davannis, Mesa and the Lunds I guess. Maybe a smashburger or my burger would work?
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Pizza Luce has great food - I'd love to see them go in there. Their venue on Lyndale is so tiny, but the rent is likely a lot cheaper than what they'd have to pay at Calhoun Square.
Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Naf Naf would be perfect!! Realistically though, what are the chances of the space getting subdivided? It has such a long record of failure after failure...
