Diagrams of the Up-Down space are at the end of the following document:

It will be 21+ only after 8pm:
Up-Down plans to restrict their patrons to persons over the age of 21 after 8:00 pm
Proposed hours of operation are 3pm to 2:30am.

They've devoted very little square footage to pinball compared to their Des Moines location, but otherwise I'm excited.

...The rooftop patio was designed to block sound from the
neighboring apartments located above the Smitten Kitchen and Caffrey’s.

The 2:30 closing time is obviously kind of interesting. Food service stops at 1 and of course booze stops at 2. Do they really anticipate enough revenue from games to justify being open an extra half hour? Or is this more of decision to be known as the place that won't kick you out right at 2?

It's just for the licensing, as that's the latest time that alcohol can be in patrons hands.

Or they just know it's nice to be out and doing things after bar close... we definitely should have more late night businesses.

Overall I just think people don't want to go to large mass scale restaurant in new large buildings especially in uptown. Divide scena into 2-3 boutique restaurants catering to specific demographics and I think it could suceed.

An event center isn't really the same thing as a club. I think it could be pretty successful here, though I wish we could get something more active seven days a week. Like, I dunno, A LIBRARY.

A library across from a library sounds like a great plan

The license app says it will be operated as 'a lounge' when it is not rented out.

The county should have bought back the building and tunneled to connect the two.

The new library is actually kind of cramped. It could use more space for books, kids, meeting rooms, etc.

EDIT: The new library was a huge missed opportunity. It should have been a mixed-use building including housing. It should have connected to the old library building.

The library hours are kinda sad all things considered.

Facebook rumors of some friends was that a gay club was opening in Uptown. I wonder if this is the place since it will be used as a "lounge" when not rented out??? Hmmm...

I heard from a barber in the area that he thought the former Falafel King space was going to become a gay bar. Though that was at least 6 months ago, and clearly no work is going on in that space. Aside from painting the building green and (mostly) demolishing the old Falafel King interior, nothing more has happened. So who knows...

I've also heard rumblings of a gay bar in the area over the last year or so. Was never told which building though.
