I ate there a few weeks ago for the first time. Food was heavy and the joint was empty. I commented then that the decor looked temporary and the build-out cheap, as if they didn't want to put in much money or they were just holding the space for the next concept.

Dang, I liked the Boneyard. Good food though prices seemed a bit high in general.

Since Minneapolisite no longer posts here to say it, I'll say it for him: Broneyard

I went to Boneyard one time, and the food was not only unappealing and overpriced but, as a southerner, an irritating bastardization of everything I grew up eating. It was branding gone mad -- like they thought if they used enough down-home adjectives on their menu they wouldn't have to learn what country ham or a buttermilk biscuit actually is. Honestly, it felt like everything that was wrong with the Minneapolis restaurant scene in one convenient location; it's hard to see how any replacement wouldn't be an improvement.

I didn't even know that Boneyard was a Kaskaid restaurant. I never went and now I'm glad I didn't.

Some 4+ months later, Cause has obviously not reopened. Now they're being evicted: http://blogs.citypages.com/gimmenoise/2 ... iction.php

Apparently the new Salsa a la Salsa is also a Kaskaid operation.

It was only a matter of time. Business was very slow. I was a regular, it being the only place I know of where I can get a cherry mocha.

Damn.

Maybe Rinata could move their dining room over to the Wuollet's space. <IT WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER>

There's a Dunkin' Donuts franchising seminar in Edina on the 22nd if anyone has like $1,000,000 hanging around:

Why is this in the uptown thread? Please tell me it's because uptown is getting a DD.

Seemed jokingly relevant to the Wuollet's closure, but I will take 100% responsibility for a made up rumor about an Uptown Dunkin' Donuts if we want to start one.

It was and it's just late and I've apparently had one too many to make the connection. There is now a non zero probability of local media running with that rumor though.

Hennepin and lagoon

Is there a thread going for the project at that intersection? I've been watching this building get taken apart for a while now and I'm just wondering if anybody knows what the whole project consists of.

I think it was talked about in the Uptown Restaurant thread. It is supposed to be another Cowboy Jacks.

My GUESS is that they are either waiting for better weather to reconstruct or they have ran into permit issues that are delaying things. Again this is only my guess.

More like before the mercury ran out the bottom of the thermometer. Hydraulics don't work very well at 0 and below.
