Oh, I think they're past three now.

I suppose if you're opening a place in Union Station and already have a place called Union, you kind of have to use that branding, even if it doesn't really mean anything to customers.

I didn't realize Union was Kascaid. Makes sense why I wasn't keen on either of the iterations we tried (I've never liked Crave either).

This is at least the fourth iteration of the ground floor, right? It's currently a an upscale sports bar, before that it was the "Workshop" with small plates or whatever, before that it was a seafood place, and I don't remember what the first concept was.

Isn't Union in Minneapolis a couple different restaurants? My understanding was that the rooftop was a different restaurant, though under the same ownership.

Correct. The rooftop has a seperate menu, hours, and, most importantly, reservation queue from the street level.

I've never liked Crave, and the upstairs of Union is pretty, but overpriced. But I actually like the ground floor bar now, especially the happy hour.

Sure, people quit my band, then go on to start restaurant after restaurant. Where are their priorities? I miss my guitarist!

Another draw: “Free parking, and plenty of it,” said Rancone.

43rd and Nicollet has free parking and plenty of it. There's not a meter within miles. Of course, there's no off-street parking, so I'm assuming Revival is struggling to stay open and is never busy....

Revival is, what, 50 seats? The article describes something that's likely tenfold bigger.

This could really be a destination if done right. The Twin Cities is really lacking a large, indoor, year-round, public market like this. Fisherman's Warf, Chelsea Market, etc.

Midtown Global Market. Try it sometime.

Correction: The Twin Cities is really lacking a large, indoor, year-round, centrally located and tourist-accessible public market.

(Which this isn't either, so.)

I went to Union Market in DC last week, if this project followed Union Market's concept it could be a winner.

I'd rather see something like Cleveland's West Side Market. Fewer restaurants and more grocers. Y'know, a market! I hope this is what the project becomes. We don't need a giant food court.

True. That really means downtown or bust, although this site will be on the riverview corridor and MGM may eventually be on the midtown line. It's hard to find a large, preferably old, downtown building which we'd be ok taking off the tax rolls to build something like this. Then there's the question of what city to put it in.
