Yes, same place as Tacos Nachos and Beer. It already seems this place is doing better business.

One thing that's driven me crazy for YEARS is the lack of decent butcher shops (steak-and-brat shops don't count, sorry Widmer's). in St. Paul, and Minneapolis for that matter. So this has me a little bit ecstatic since it'll be a quarter mile from my house.

Prime Burgers and Wings in the skyway level of the newer Securian building (in one of the old McDonald's locations) is closing at the end of this week. They had only opened in November.

Construction began today on Big River Pizza in the retail space at Lofts at Farmers Market. The retail space has been expanded by combining with an adjacent apartment. Expected time to completion is about eight weeks.

Salt Cellar duo to open Ox Cart Ale House in Lowertown

A block away from CHS field. I'm excited for the rooftop portion.

Tonight I noticed that "World of Beer" is opening a restaurant kitty corner from Faces on Mears Park. The sign on the window said "Tapping this Fall".
The building is the very nice yellow brick number with arched windows. It has been vacant for as long as I can remember.

Great site. I love the fire escape stairs on the side of that building: https://www.google.com/maps/@44.948631, ... 312!8i6656

I'm a little skeptical. I heard they were moving into that space back around June 2014, and yet zero work has been done there. I sure hope the space is used for commercial or retail and doesn't get converted into apts.

They plan to open in October, according to the person in their booth at the Blues Festival yesterday. She said they'd have 52 taps and 500 bottles.

I often wonder with places like this -- with 52 taps, unless their volume is staggering, how can they possibly keep the less popular kegs fresh?

Eh, beer can last months properly cooled and on compressed lines. Regular cleaning of said lines is 10 time more important than the age of the keg.

The American Burger Bar on Wabasha Street is being completely remodeled following the fire that forced it to close last year. They're adding direct skyway access and will have large windows in the front of the restaurant that can be opened to the sidewalk.

There has been very little progress on either of these buildings. The large furniture store building has new blue tape on the floor, perhaps outlining where the bar will be - who knows? It is clear, though, that the development of this building will depend on the new parking lot being built behind it, which will not be owned by Mr. Hatzigeorgiou.

The smaller building he envisions as a cafe has big posters in the window in Spanish and English saying that the first floor is for lease, worrying me that his plan fell through and he's looking for a phone shop.

Is that the round ground level space on the corner?

Yes, the round space on the corner, although I recall the Daily Diner's entrance was over on the Dale Street side on the flat part of the building immediately next to the circular area, which felt awkward to me the couple times I visited. There was a door nicely placed facing University, but I guess they were only using it as an emergency exit.

Not to be confused with the Ground Round level space on the corner.
