I get nervous with how many dining choices we have in Lowertown, it just feels like too much competition for too few diners.

Toward the other end of downtown, Afro Deli on West 7th Place has expanded their evening hours so they now close at 9 pm:

Ox Cart has decided to close on Sundays and Mondays for the winter. Not a great sign.
Is this true? It's open tonight and their Facebook page still has hours 11am - 1am everyday.

EDIT: I did a little digging and found their post from December 12th. "We will be closed Sunday and Monday's thru January with our winter hours." It's a confusing post. I think it was only one Sunday and then the Mondays for a few weeks. But a few of those are due to the holidays.

That would make sense.

Here's a year-end rundown from the PiPress, including the news that Faces Mears Park will be renamed Bistro 373 when it reopens in the spring. (The number comes from the address of 373 Sibley St, of course.)

The skyway Baja Sol was open when I went past on Tuesday. Freshii hadn't opened yet.

Welp, another closing. I walked in to SW Craft Bar tonight (aka Senor Wongs), and the bar was closed/lights off, while the restaurant had a few lonely diners. The hostess told me "they no longer have a bar" and that the entire operation will be shut down by the end of this week.

Dang. I don't go there much but I'm sad to see them go.

In case you haven't heard, the Strip Club in Dayton's Bluff is also closing.

I'm curious whether another restaurant will take it's place since I don't think it's a great location but is a great building. Maybe something more accessible to the nearby Metro State student population.

Regarding SW Craft bar, here are the details, which differ a bit from what the hostess communicated to me:

Word is Sidhe brewery will be renamed and move to the old location of Station 4 at 4th and Sibley. Rumor is the two other storefronts along 4th will be an "arcade bar" and a pub. Housing to go upstairs.

@Vagueperson, where did you hear this news? Is there a developer that will redevelop the whole Station 4 block at once?

Why rename, I wonder? I know Lucid was forced to by a trademark claim, but it seems odd to throw away the name recognition.

Is there much name recognition? I love me some Gaelic in theory, but a name people don't know how to pronounce is a challenge.

Barking Cat is my favorite. Wonder if the beers will change names, too. I had difficulty every time I brought a growler somewhere trying to explain the name. On the other hand, after it was explained it was very memorable.
I don't know who the developer is.

From what I can tell, At Miguel's, the gyro stand in the Town Square skyway, appears to be closed.

There is a new restaurant that just opened on the corner of Stillwater and Hazel in the old Neville's bar and grill location called
"Los Sanchez taqiera". I'm excited to try it out. The far east side desperately needs some more dining options so I hope the food is good and I hope they are successful.
